  • Vvc or no vvc

    Hi all,
I am slowly starting my k series conversion yey. I am currently looking for a doner car and have found a zr 1.8 non vvc.
So my question is will I regret the 40ish hp less? How useable is the vvc engine on the road the mini will be a weekend toy with a bit of drag racing thrown in all just for fun really.

You won't regret it, my old engine started out as a 143 VVC, so not that much more than the non VVC 1.8, that still have more than enough useable power.
You won't be disappointed with it!

Whatever engine you start with, you'll most likely want more power out of it eventually. Whether you start with a 1.4 or a 1.8vvc, it'll happen eventually.

Start with whatever you thinks a good starting point

The VVC is better for power overall as even if you go with a solid cam conversion like mine, the VVC head has larger valves and bigger porting, it would cost a good chunk of cash to get the standard MPi head to flow as well as a standard VVC head.
