Payments to [email protected] with summary of what it is for please, ie 1 track day, 1 extra driver, 2 bbq tickets and 1 child
Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls i am pleased to announce the biggest and best 16v mini weekend possible this side of the planet, even bigger then olivers mount.
With thanks to a new club member we have been invited to Barkston Heath in Lincolnshire for a weekend of 16 valving. The weekend comprises of:
1) Arrive friday and enjoy 1/2 a pint of beer and a coke after the long drives and an early night, NOT!!!!!!
2) Arrive at Barkston Heath MOD for a full days track day event limited just for our 16v minis. (maybe opened up to others if we dont achieve 30 cars). Drive till you drop (or crash, for the benifit of the sprinters)
3) For those still standing it will be back to the campsite for some impromtu and self improvised entertainment and another small beer.
4) As this weekend falls on the same weekend as a championship event, this event is being cancelled and those involved in the sprints have been invited to participate in a proper sprint event organised at Barkston Heath with the RAF MSA club (hope they promise not to use a vtec powered euro fighter as per top gear). Other top drivers from the saturday may also be lucky enough for an inviation. For those not entering the sprint there is a cart track in the area for a 16v pretend sprint championship without damaging your own cars.
5) Leave Barkston Heath totally refreshed, ready for school on the monday morning.
The Cost: The saturdays cost is £65-70 per car with a cost of i believe £55 for a second driver.
The sundays sprint will be £35-40, over half the price of Elvington. The carting will need to be arranged locally closer to the time.
Camping, unsure at the moment.
The circuit is smooth tarmac, easy on the tyres, and plenty of grip. Also i've been told there are no bales to hit or fences to go through.
We have a target of 30 cars to make this event viable. These places must be filled and payed for by the end of April and are on a first come first served basis. After this the remaining spaces will be open to any mini owner.
Please show your interest in the list below, this is just an interest list as your place will not be reserved until payment has been recieved.

Hi Mark,
I was good to have a quick chat last night.
Ideally to make it a good day 30 cars would be needed. This way the numbers of cars keeps the cost down.
As we mentioned last night, this will at first just be offered to 16v drivers, then depending on the uptake be offered to the 'A' series boys to keep numbers up and costs low.
I would estimate that with those numbers a day could be put on for £65/£70 per driver.
The format of the day is pretty relaxed, but much depends on the promptness of the drivers, the later they are the later the day starts.
It is best to have all drivers/cars on site by 0900 if not before. They will all have to sign on and scrutineer.
This will be followed by a briefing from the Clerk of the Course and myself.
See below for the kit list required.
The Staff have several years of experience at running Barkston and it is not long before three cars, well spaced, will be on the track at the same time.
If all goes well we should get the wheels turning for around 1015.
Break for lunch around the 1230 mark for 30/45 mins. At around 1600 the track will close.
The cars or people normally wear out before the time runs out.
The decibel level is very generous, officially around the 110 mark, but in eight years of going I have not known the most noisy cars fail.
The RAFMSA provide medical cover + crash and recovery/rescue services for the day. All these staff are Motor Sports Association licence holders.
If required it is possible to book a burger van that produces decent grub at reasonable prices.
Location
RAF Barkston Heath is located about 5 miles from Sleaford in Lincolnshire, post code, NG32 2DQ.
It is currently used as the elementary flying training school for the RAF.
As such it is covered by the MOD Guard Force and entrance is controlled by them.
See below for the track plan of Barkston Heath.
The track is around 1100 metres and primarily runs in a clockwise direction, though it can and is run in both directions. It has an excellent surface, much better than a lot of the airfield rubbish. It provides pots of grip and a very slow breakaway.
Any hard objects surrounding the track are protected by thick tyre walls, so no trees and big lumps of rock.
Camping
Camping can be found at Woodland Waters camp site, 1 mile from Barkston Heath. Good camp site, proper toilets and showers + a bar and restaurant on site, good food and beer at reasonable prices.
Woodland Waters Camping
Fuel/shop
Located by the exit to Woodland Waters.
Kit List
1 x serviceable motor car, it does not need to taxed, MOT'd or SVA, but must be suitable for use i.e., it should be able to pass an MOT. Use common sense.
1 x crash helmet, full face preferred. It does not have to be race spec' Lidls and the like do helmets very cheap, presuming of course you have a cheap head.
1 x pair of overalls. These do not have to be race spec' but they do as a minimum have to be 100% cotton, clean and serviceable. Welders overalls are good for this, or follow the link for a real value for money pair.
'Race numbers' will need to be placed on both sides of the car so in the case of an incident they can be readily identified by marshals.
These numbers need to be a minimum of 9", simply printed on a home pc.
Have a read of the above, I will give you a call about 7.30 tonight and fill the information gaps as required.
Regards
