That is a different design, your one looks the same as the one fitted to my B16A2

Not sure if Andy is still about (haven't used him in years) but give integrastella a call

Unfortunately as some rover and hondas share the same starter you can't rely on ECP to get it right

First up your picture is the same as my one, mine is from a b16a2 like pomps above and it fit my old b18c6 block and is what I use now on my b20 (can't use the b20 starter as flywheel is different)

Obviously the one you bought from ECP has a "shield" around the teeth, yours doesn't so it won't fit, the later type vtec ones have the shield, there are some that have different number of teeth as the flywheel is different on I think the really early ones, the auto and manual ones are all interchangeable for the same given model, the sohc and dohc are different and I'm sure you can't swap the earlier cable clutch type either

Just find one that is the "open" type around the teeth for any integra dc2 or earlier vtecs (b16a2 b18c6 etc) or del sol vtecs and it'll bolt right on, I'd take that back to ECP and go to a honda breakers (or specialist) with your one if unsure, secondhand is fine, no need for a new jobbie

ok took my original starter to a place local to me who repair starter motors and alternators..the guy tested mine and said yep its a little bit labored..so left it with him...
anyway he stripped it down to check it out .....phoned me after a couple of hrs and said he couldn't find anything wrong with it🤔 so im stumped....as to why it will only turn the engine very slowly and will flatted a brand new battery with in 3 seconds(the battery is off my BMW diesel

This points to another problem tbh, like something binding (partially seized engine / gearbox /clutch...?)

If the engine turns over ok with the plugs out then your only left with the battery, it might be a new battery but was it pulled out of your beemer or brand new unused battery meant for the beemer, either way did you check the volts, I do as you never know how long it’s been sitting around, has your beemer been sitting around for a while as well?

Check your main battery cable to the starter incase its burnt/stripped away in places, I’m not sure how this would drain a battery that quick but you need to give it a good going over

I’m still suspecting battery, an engine can drain volts after continuous cranking but not to the point of flattening it, one or two volts from the newish 12v yes but not drain completely

tried my battery out of my beemer which is my every day and also brought a brand new battery for the mini...and both drained within seconds
recharged the new battery which i brought for the mini left it sitting for a couple of days after charging...put that in the beemer turned the key turned the engine over fine
then put it back on the mini and still the same again flat within seconds...should have my replacement starter mon/tue hopefully from Andy so will update whats what

As Kam says, check your Battery live is not shorting out, I had something similar years ago when I fitted an LCB to a Mini and it touched the main battery cable, melted the insulation and shorted it out.
Watsons frame in a standard length front, they said it was impossible ...

Build Thread - standard length round nose B series with Watsons frame, it is possible

To me, that sounded really slow while cranking before the startup. What compression are you running?
