  • Weight of a converted Mini??

    Hello all,

As the title says, has anyone weighted there Mini after the conversion?

I am just looking for some information really for power/weight figures..

If people would be kind enough to give the car weight and power?

All conversion welcome, Suzuki, Vax, Honda, Motorcycle etc..

    Thanks in advance!!

Mine was 720kg with Suzuki engine and fibreglass bonnet and with full interior + roll cage + tools + spare tire etc. It'll go on a diet sooner or later.
      I have a cunning plan...

Mine's at 670kg(ish) without the driver ........... maybe 180bhp, but never been dyno'd so who the hell knows.

          All steel panels, but .......
          Removed inner wings
          Removed boot floor
          Removed rear valence
          Polycarbonate side & rear windows
          No window winders
Inner skins removed from boot & bonnet
Doorcards, rearcards, parcel shelf, rear seatback & dash in 0.5mm ally sheet
Removed back seat & replaced with 3mm ally chequer sheet .... which is just as heavy as steel.
          Ally undertray/diffuser behind heelboard
          Ally fuel tank
          OMP steel framed bucket seat
          OMP 6 point rollcage
Rear axle to replace radius arms & subframe.
          Big Vaux up front.

There's so many different ways of building our engine swapped Mini's that there's no benchmark weight.

All steel panels except fibre glass bonnet and boot skin

                This is getting interesting!

Richard you have about 340bhp/tonne! You happy with that on 10's? Do you get ANY traction??

So who on here has the highest power/weight on here?

Dude good quality polycarbonate side and rear windows are my recommendation, maybe keep the drivers wingdow if you do lots of winding. Havent yet weighed the glass i removed but its bastard heavy! Poly is cheap too.

The best power to weight ratio 16v fwd mini on here would be Dennis K series turbo mini i would say.

I weighed mine before the end of the build with andys scales and we estimated once built it should be somewhere around the 550-570kg area and it's running approx 180 bhp at the moment. Unlike the other cars listed though i think it maybe easier to list the things that have not been lightened.

                              Traction? Whats that?

As the car develops its getting really scary on the road, the 165 Yokos are not up to the job at all. However with a set of Miglia slicks on its a different animal.
I've found however that too soft a compound on the front and too heavy a right foot and the rubber just tears.
For next season I'm looking at traction control or maybe even moving up to 13s
