Been very busy doing these gearboxes for various different uses.

I have now got some 3.9 final drive sets which I can offer on here at a discount from eBay. £25 posted.

The most common Rover conversion is the VVC engine. This comes as standard with either a C4 or G4 ratio gearbox. In a Mini, having smaller wheels it's best to swap the final drive from 4.2 to 3.9. Posting a gearbox is expensive so I offer the parts to build and convert your own.

I would buy any PG1 gearbox parts but am interested in the G ratio 5th gear pair if anyone has these.

    PG1 LSD's wanted also. 😀

I have just got the 3.6 final drive for the PG1 gearbox.

This can be used to build the C7 ratio box which is not available to buy as a stock item. Great with the Mini's small wheels.

All the other options above I currently have here if anyone is interested.

      Andrew.

An update to the progress of the gearbox building.

It's taken off like hot cakes. Started building a few custom gearboxes for people on here.

Put a few on Ebay. Was getting 1 a month sold on there a year ago.

Then lockdown in March. Dead for about 2 months.

Come June, it's been like everyone is doing project cars! It has been 3 or 4 a week. Now building for the MG Cup cars. Lotus Elise race cars etc.

Anyone reading the list of options above, I have all the variants here.

Happy to give advice on these to anyone who needs.

        Andrew.

            Yes of course Robert!

If you look back over this post, thread 13 has all the options available and I have all but the 3.6 final drive parts here to build. You will need a flywheel and starter motor which I also have.

My gearboxes are not just second hand items. They are built to order with new bearings, seals etc.

You need to decide which clutch operation type you are wanting to use. Both hydraulic and cable are popular. The cable in my opinion is best as uses less engine bay space (which is very tight in the standard roundnose). This is what I had on Phoenix and was on the road 8 years without issue.

I’ve been checking scrappers in the meantime and it seems one close has a zr160 in stock. Might try that first if not too expensive.

The ZR160 (G4 ratio) gearbox is far too low geared for a daily car. It's the lowest ratio gearbox in the range. You really couldn't of picked a worse one!

For a stock box, a C6 is probably the best. If you want to risk just buying a second hand one then that's fine by me. I have a few here. The ZR160 tent to be more money so interested to know how much that would be from a scrappy...

Yeah i’m curious too. But if a C4 isn’t good that i might leave it for now. The point is that it’s not easy for me to pick one up from your place and shipping might be expensive

Please enquire about the ZR160 gearbox. Let me know.

We can sort something out regarding delivery. I don't know where you are so you are one up on me there!

Hahaha that’s for sure, i’m living in the Netherlands.

didn’t had time to visit the wreckers but i did find some mgf specialist who has vvc boxes for 150 euro.

found a pg1 for 50 euro, not sure how many miles or kilometres it did.
