Perhaps needs a good Wynns flush before change next time but 10/40 should be fine, 5/30 synt benn around since mid eighties when I worked for ESSO

had 5/30 in the wife's Zafira, it disappeared out at an alarming rate.
Put in 10/40 and it still uses oil, but not just as fast.

Just a little update from me..

The car ran really well through the summer with only a few very minor teething problems which were easily rectified.

Ive got a problem now with the clutch (since adding a really thick carpet set), the only possible solution i can see now is to upgrade to a full hydraulic clutch.

So, ive already bought an E16SE lump which will be my project for this winter. Im hoping for somewhere around the 130bhp mark. Once rebuilt, the spec will probably be.

        Bike Carbs
        Bogg Brothers Inlet Manifold
        Megajolt
        Lairy Cam
        4 Branch Manifold
        Ported head

        It should be fun

          Latest Pic of the Mini.

Ive added some covers for the Oscars and replaced all the chrome on the front end. The grill will be getting done soon.

A couple of engine shots for the doubters out there!

I spoke to Steve at Bogg Brothers this week. A custom inlet manifold for ZX6r carbs with all the fittings would be £240, so im defo going down the bike carb route.

Looks nice mate, needs a spacer on the rear though to bring them out and make it more squarer

Project looks good, im starting something similar at the moment.

Are you still running the standard cast exhaust manifold?
Did you ever look into getting an upgraded one?

                Cheers

                    Yup,

Im still running the C14SE cast manifold.

However, i bought Janspeed 4-2-1 jobby from Pob which i havent fitted yet.

Loving the 4 Oscars. Got some myself to fit but might be a bit weighty for my fibreglass front!

Its a given that the manifold wont fit mucker. The innermost pair of branches will have to be cut and welded so that they sit inside the outer pair, otherwise they will foul the front subby.

It will also need to have a lamba lug welded on, (if i junk the idea of using bike carbs / megajolt)

Im in no rush at the minute, its running and driving really well so i'll be taking my time and choosing my options wisely

If you have a welder anything fits lol.

Don't blame you, if it aint broke don't fix it
