Well done, are you enjoying your creation? I loved my Vauxhall one, it just drove so well. Too noisy on motorways but around town it was superb, car looks really good.

            Regards

Yes, its smashing thanks. It pulls cleanly in any gear and runs nice and cool in heavy slow moving traffic too.

The levels of noise inside the car leave a lot to be desired, as does the cutting out at junctions thing..

However, im sure once the front carpets are in, as well as copius amounts of sound deadening that it will become a little more refined and socially acceptable

                  I forgot to add...

I have bought and fitted the complete black half leather equinox trim out of Rob Halls C14SE demonstrator that he sold recently, it looks superb.

I will get some pictures up shortly.

                    Good job mate.
                    Too loud?!
That was the one thing I noticed whenever I first drove the C16SE was how quite it was compared to the A Series where the constant clatter and rattles where deafening.
My dad and i drove 350miles to the IMM and we could even have had a conversation.
I say we could have had a conversation, but we didn't; oh quality time.

No, I actually mean quality time.
Driving the mini, away from the wife and kids, and the only hearing the gentle hum of the Vauxhall engine (no radio)
Got back from the trip and the wife says "so what did you and your dad talk abouty for 7 hours each way?".... "errrrrrrr nothing"
                        As I said quality time.

Yes too loud. Im running without carpets or sound deadening at the moment, there and zings and hums galore when on full throttle!

However, pootling around at 30mph in 5th gear seems fairly quiet.

Do you have the poor idling issues and cutting out when warm pob?

                            Idle is fine.

The only time I notice it cutting out is after a long run, then heavy braking it'll cut out. Not all the time though. I thought it was something to do with not having fitted the re-circulating system.

Hi again Pob the cutting out you describe sounds like a problem ford cvh engines had if you used a thick oil, the hydraulic lifters get pumped to the max at high revs for a period of time and when you slow for a roundabout or junction they dont lose presure quick enough so for a short time valves dont close all the way and engine cuts out, it will restart and problems gone until they go through the same patern, ford recomended 5/30 oil instead of the 15/40 of the day to solve it and it worked, sound similar, try 10/30 synthetic

                              kind regards Steve

PS know what you mean about quality quiet time, my house is a mad house after school ends, thank god for my workshop

I've 10/40 in it at the moment.
Did 5/30 synthetic exist when GM designed the engine?
