I see you got the MGF donor, if you still have the shell it might be stuck on the shell when you dropped the front subframe.

I binned the whole shell early on after stripping [emoji20] didn’t even think to look.

        3 hours today.....

Shortened shafts. Well, they were right length to start with.....the cvs both got stuck on bent circlips!! So they were 35mm away from clicking in! But I found that after I shortened them! So now they’re 35mm too short!! 🤬 oh well, I’ll leave them with my mate this week as I have to work away for s couple nights!

Finished exhaust manifold but didn’t wrap it all as I have to weld the flange for the wastegate in soon as it’s here (maybe Thursday?)

        Turbo flange..

Turned out well! Still need to make a bracket to hold the turbo, to prevent manifold cracking with weight. Nothing else gonna be getting done this weekend as got a local steam fayre tomor!

        Have a good weekend guys/girls.

          Only quick update.....

Exhaust parts turned up, wastegate turned up too!

Started making the turbo back, just waiting on a box as I ordered the wrong size!! Not much room to work in 63mm, so the exhaust will have to exit the tail gate rather than the fuel filler hole!! Think the screamer pipe will come out at the bottom of the rear quarter.

All mandral bends. Smaller ones or for the screamer.

Happy with it, the box will then fit onto the cross brace, everything sits nice and level, central etc! The pipe comes up slightly from the turbo and then down from the rear quarter, just in case water etc enters whilst parked up, it can’t get to the turbo. That’s the theory haha. Really truth be known it’ll just stop on the mid box.

          38mm 8psi sprung wastegate.

That’s all til maybe Sunday eve/early next week!!

Oh.....and has sorted the shafts, just gotta weld them back up! I’ll make sure I’m right this time first!!

Three hours in the garage, nice and cool to work now the hot weather has finished for a bit.

I’ll be trimming the exhaust so it just pokes outta the tailgate. And the screamer pipe will be tear dropped and out of the passengers rear quarter.

Got some new seats too......again!!!! 3rd lot now [emoji849]

Might have to stagger them slightly as they’re tight in there!! Runners will be fixed anyway, so they won’t be moving!! And no one will be getting in the back haha

            That’s all.

Would it not be good to have a bit of flexi in the exhaust rather then it being solid, or did I miss that?

Hi buddy. No point really, I have rubber mounts for it (like cotton reels) and still have to make a bracket to hold the turbo’s weight (like on a car). Bikes don’t have flexis or barely any have rubber mounts even. The engine is solid mounted, only flex it will have will be the rubbers where the subframe mounts.

I used same setup on the smart car and had no issues. But cheers for the comment [emoji1360]

Made screamer pipe today, just waiting for a piece of 42mm stainless bend to cut the rear drop tip from. You can see where it will exit

Just need to add all the rubber mounts be supports as mentioned above [emoji1360]

All night been thinking bout a flexi.......I might put one in! Kept thinking that if there’s a bit of give on the rubber mounts, the exhaust itself can’t flex with it!!

I’ll see.....and thanks for the input tho [emoji1360]

See your point, but motorbike exhausts are shorter and have less bends than what you have here.

Wasn't meant as a criticism just thinking the engine is going to have to move greater weigh which I think may mean it will try to move a bit more than in a bike, If it's all virtually solid mounted with only millimeters of flex then I think over time something will give.I could of course be completely wrong I often am as my wife takes great pains to point out.

no critiscm taken not in a bad way anyway.

I have the rubber mounts to fit hopefully tonight, and the screamer pipe will be on a mount to the main pipe where its close, and also the turbo will have a big bracket holding it solid. I guess the only real test will be when its running.

I have a lot of evening work on this week, but the mrs is out all Saturday, so i'll try and crack on then!! really need to get on to the seat mounts and front end!!!!

its getting so exciting! I can actually see the light at the end of the tunnel
