So just a small update. Just took my first delievery of parts. I will wait for comments about the springs, but I am going to give them a go! if I dont get on with them I will change them out for rubber cones at a later date.

Plan to drop the rear subframe this week and roll the car onto its side so I can remove all the paint / stonechip underneath and get it painted, i will also get the subframe shot blasted and painted. After reading previous builds and with advise off my paint supplier i will be using jotamastic 87 for the underside / subframe radius arms ect.

The parts above will enable me to get the rear end built up and get it back onto its wheels.

I've got those springs. They're absolute dogshizzle. They make for a comfy ride whilst pottering about, that's the nicest thing I can say about them.

I'll be putting in red dot cones in the near future.

Yep I put those springs in my car too - they are rubbish in a heavy conversion mini. They just bottom out/ bind up.
I'm considering putting some race springs in instead to try, otherwise I'll just go back to cones.

They are going back and I will order some Red dot cones..

In all honesty, I would send back the Gaz shocks and switch them for some different ones, they’re not great quality and don’t perform that well

Going to stick with the shocks but change the springs. I can change out the shocks if i need to once I have got it on the road.

I've got a fixed budget so want to spend in other areas of the build first.

                            Appricate the input though. Thanks

So the sun was out today, so wheeled the Mini outside so I could fit the front seats.

Nothing clever, just a simple rail for the back mounting points, I will drill them once I have a both seats in place. I pre drilled holes on the unside of the rectangular bar so i have access for a nut. I plan to drill the heel board and use rivet nuts as a fixing points.

I only have one seat at the moment which is the driverside so just trying it for fitment in the passenger side. I am really happy with the fit and I will be swapping the rails once I pick up the other seat as the recliner wheel needs to be on the inside next to the hand brake so that it clears the Companion Boxes in the rear. I am six foot and I am really happy with the ammount of leg room in the front, next to nothing in the back so there is definitely no seat going in the rear.

So just a further update. I moved onto installing the fuel tanks, wanted to go twin to increase the range and also I love the look of twin filler necks. I had two 7.5 gallon tanks, both are in good condition so I decided to try and make the RH one fit.

Got them both lined up and the RH one is way too big, so out out came the trusty angle grinder

Happy with the fit and look...

Brought a mounting bracket for the LH tank and made one for the RH out of some 30mm box section I had lying about.

I will make up some straps to hold them down later.

Going to get my friend to tig weld the tank as i'm not that confident in my welding skills.
