After disappointment at santa pod this year for myself and a few others on here (due to poor organisation, and track preparation) I though it might be a good idea to try and organise our own meet at a drag strip next year.
I suggest Shakespeare County Raceway as it has always seemed well run to me, less busy and the track seems to suit cars running road tyres a little better than pod, also some would argue it is a slightly faster track due to it being slightly down hill so maybe some PBs might be possible.
They have camping facilities (although basic) so those travelling some distance will be able to camp if the want to.
I have narrowed it down to 3 weekends next year (2017) which don't seem to clash with any of the big shows and have a reasonable chance of dry weather.
I'll try and do a poll so people can vote for which weekend they prefer.
Any other suggestions are welcome
UPDATE:
DATE SET FOR 30TH SEPTEMBER - 1ST OCTOBER
I have spoken to Shakespeare county raceway and they are happy to host our club meet (in conjunction with turbominis) on the rwyb weekend of 30th September - 1st October. This is a public track weekend as well so there will be other cars on the track, they suggested this weekend as it is usually a little quieter especially on the Saturday. There will be camping available and we will try and organize some sort of bbq for the Saturday night, Shakespeare raceway have also said the bar will be open if there is enough of us. I'm hoping people will make the effort to get to this as it would be great to finally have a good club meet so even if you have no interest in going on the track please come along and meet everyone else, talk minis, watch some racing and hopefully have a fun weekend.
We will have an unofficial 'competition' where you can hand in your times and we will have winners for different categories. This is not restricted to 16v or turbo powered minis, all classic minis are welcome.
So put the date in your diaries, spread the word and if you are coming please add your name to this thread with a pic of your car if you want so we have an idea of how many will be there.
UPDATE
The event has now been officially titled 'Classic Mini Rumble' and Shakespeare County Raceway have kindly produced a web banner and will be adding it to their events listing
