Yeah I think he claims 180hp with them and breathing mods.

There is a forum thread about someone who fitted them and did a rolling road before and after, gained a little torque but no extra hp. They then fitted the dva dowels and got a 3hp gain lol

I've been told a remap is the key, I'm already running the '170' map but going to get a custom one done on the rollers soon. I can also see what happens with nos and might even dial it back some for reliability when on the gas.

Hi Ed, apologies if I've missed it but what brakes are you running on this? Is it the normal MGF set up on the front? How are you finding they stop you? I'm asking as I've got a project starting, which will be on 14's, trying to find the most effective 'standard' brakes I can get.

Outstanding build btw, quality work done by yourself

        Thanks

I'm running standard mgf 240mm brakes on the front and Allegro rear drums.
Obp pedal box with no servo, has a balance bar set to bias the fronts and I have a valve in the rear line as well.

        They are hard work.

This weekend I swapped the generic front brake pads for some Mintex 1144 compound.

There is defiantly more bite and braking effort on them now, so pleased as they are not cheap!

Still looking into a Corsa sri rear disc conversion for the winter months, my 2nd hand obp fluid pots are weapy at the bottom seals too which is annoying. I have a new set that look to be a better design to go on but that means pushing all the fluid out and rebleeding, another job for the winter.

Appreciate the response, thanks! Haha, I'd imagine with no servo they require a fair bit more effort, I have m1144's on my mini and thought they were good. I'll look into the F set up, would be helpful as they have the same pcd. Corsa rear discs sound good, I was looking into zr rear beam setups

Sorry to hi-jack your thread EDK, Will I thought you were running 10" wheels with mini hubs on your car? if so the MGF set up won't fit as it use's the MGF front hubs, calipers & disc's so will only fit under 13" wheels plus the lower ball joint is a pinch bolt design where the ball joint is attached to the lower arm and not the hub. Here's and exploded view showing the components, I apologise if this is something that you have already looked in to.

Yes, apologies for hijack Ed Thanks gadget, that is my mini setup but this is for a maestro! Its on 14's too, trying to get as big/best brakes as I can find, will be heavier than Ed's allegro however, thats a very helpful link too

It went for a thrashing on a dyno yesterday.

I'll take that for a little K series I think

Some pictures from the NEC this weekend

The Allegro club stand was in a good position this year, I also managed to get a sit in a GT40, orange wheels for the win! Harris Mann signed one of the cars when he visited the stand too.

So I don't think the car will move much over winter but I've a few little jobs to do.

First is change the hydraulic fluid pots as they weep at the seals which is rather annoying, these were 2nd hand with the pedal box so I have a new set to go on.

Second is swap the awful sticking fuel filler cap for a fast flow screw type one, I could have made one but after some searching I found one with the correct bolt pattern in the USA. Just so happened my friend was over visiting so got one sent to her in Missouri and she's just dropped it round Told her to keep hold of the packing slip otherwise it could look slightly dodgy on the xray machine!

Third job is a little more work, rear disc and hub conversion. I've offered up a Corsa sri rear stub axle and caliper, everything clears so it just needs mounting. I got a scrap arm and chopped the stub axle off flat, no way the rear circlip was coming out after 40 years! Now I can figure out the best way of mounting it, I can't bolt it as the bolt holes end up in the structure of the arm, looks like it might weld though.

Fuel filler fixed, happy with the result. Had to get it from the usa as I couldn't find the right bolt pattern anywhere else.

Replacement fluid pots fitted, annoying job but liking the newness.

So I've not done a huge amount recently, mainly due to doing a lot of fixing my new Jag daily beater.

The rear hubs do now look like this though. Shiny new GM bearings and hub nuts done to 175nm rather than 5nm and a split pin that the Allegro uses.

Break lines are done, had to be braided due to the caliper needing to slide. Everything fits and I have handbrake cables made, I've had to route them through the metal loop on the corsa handbrake mech to keep them away from the break lines. Seems to work just fine, I've put a ptfe super low friction bush in there but I might get the cable modified again in the future.
