Default Top mounted alternator

Afternoon all,

Has anyone managed to use the small denso alternator and bracket kit from SBD mounted at the top as per the link on their website?

I want to get it but can't decide whether it fits....

Here's the link:

http://www.sbdev.co.uk/Electrical/Al...lternators.htm

And another:

Cheers,

Darren.

It is a nice bracket, but I don't think it will fit Darren. Depends upon your install of course, but by making your own you can use a shorter belt and get it snug to the block at the front, or in this case snug to the head at the back. By the way, if you need to get the small Denso, I got mine for about 50 from Maynard Motorsport. Buy the proper Denso plug as well if you can.

Thanks Birdman.

Was it second hand? Their website doesn't say what they sell merely what they do.

No it was new and luckily because of late delivery I got the proper plug for free, but usually these are about 15 extra I think.

Yeah the answer to this for me is still up in the air. I have the smaller one but I thought it was 45 -50 amp rating. I need to see how it goes on a day today basis when on the road as I have stereo, EPAS etc. I think I have a problem with my main power cable and FIA isolator at present (bad connection), so I may actually be OK when this is fixed, but I would prefer to have about 60amps.
