Default centre mini speedo with c16se/3.55xe box

hi im currently building a c16se conversion for my mini ,im using a 3.55 xe gearbox and would like to retain the old centre mounted speedo ,im also running 10" wheels ,is it possible or will i need some kind of devise to let me get the correct road speed registering on the speedo if you see what i mean? thanks in advance

Look on the speedy cables website. They can make a cable for you and calibrate your speedo if you supply some basic info which is all detailed on their site.

As above Speedy Cables will make you a 1 off cable with a vauxhall gearbox connector and mini speedo connector and recalibrate your existing speedo.
I think it was nearly 200 that I got quoted.
(But take their estimated delivery times with the preverbial pinch of salt )

Or buy a cheap old satnav and just run it on the speedo function.

holly bananas they must make a fortune think il maybee get a cable off them ,but feck the recalibration ,speedo does not need to be working for mot anyway it just needs to be there

Oops, just remembered that included getting the rev counter changed to accept the signal from an ecu aswell as the cable, recalibration and postage.
That was a few years ago, dont know what their prices are like now.

ah thought it was a bit dear im on about the large centre clock with the gauges at either side as on 60s 70s minis the old smiths stuff

Can you cut and join the cables with a brass joiner, it works if you have a outer bit to keep the outers apart,??

thanks mate i thought of that might give it a go ,il phone speedy cables tommorow to see what theyd take to make a cable ,on the lookout for centre speedo with the gauges either side now

They quoted me around 30 plus postage to make me a cable.

That was for a centre speedo like yours and a vaux f20 box. I did supply both ends of the 2 cables though- not sure if that makes a difference re price.

or if u have an iphone use one of the iphone apps that work from gps...not sure how accurate they are tho
