Default Engine mount brackets

I am looking to fab some engine mount brackets to suit a custom subframe housing a 1.8 16v lump. From experience what would be the best steel thickness to go for? Taaa

6mm, and decent gussetting! Some people say 3mm, but rather safe than sorry.
