Default Hand brake relocation

I've moved my steering wheel and seat further back about 4". I now need to move my gear linkage which will hit the hand brake. I folk have done this before and I have looked through build threads but couldn't really see how its been done. Any ideas/help will be helpful. If I can do it without cutting and welding would be ideal as the car is painted.

Here you can see how I relocated my handbrake but I just cut and re-welded brackets further back just as I moved gear linkage

intresting problem, in the past i spent lots of time re,welding up stress cracks wher it joins on the scwair cross member, no problem,, but it just meens it takes pressure to lift against floor and thats a strong place to frature,
my gear lever unit needs moveing back too ,just because it hits dash in 1st 3rdand 5th
im luck as it just will go back far enough for park brake to work,
anything that can be welded can also be bolted,, in most cases lol,
i think with a double skin with thickness at week point would work,
floors a bit week/thin at that point, how will you shorten cable?
