Some good news and bad!

I should have a set of forged omega 8:5:1 pistons coming... So should be good for decent power now.. But could be up to 12 weeks lead time!!.

Only possitive is that I aim to get everything else done on the car in the meantime

Piston's now ordered!.

I was going to try having working VVC my due to my mech's being worn and concerned about finding a good second hand set I have ditched that idea.

New plan is solid cam conversion and running the newman's phase 2 camshafts ( 260 duration and 10.15 lift ) and keep the revs to 7500 max.. I should be about to keep the hydraulic followers and standard crank should still be ok.

I will also be changing the exhaust to a full 3" turbo back system!

CV joint wise it looks like I will be going with the Allspeed HD units with a Vauxhall/rover hybrid and with the 2 piece longer shaft. Emerald will be setting up boost by gear, flat shift and launch control

Really just want to get it done as I missed so much this year!!

Can I take it that this car is not going to be driven on the road much then Chris? A track beast?

How things are going don't even know if it could even be road legal, then was reading this

https://www.autosport.com/national/n...torsport-in-eu

so may not be able to use it all

Very worst case, will just have to buy a K series powered but SVA'd kit car and fit this engine into it

Making some modifications to the world's heaviest subframe.. with clearance for a 3" downpipe now.. need to work on further support for the nearside top arm mount

Bored with all this faffing around!! Just want it done now

Fitted my good crank into my new engine block with all the correct sized bearings and a coat of my favourite anthracite metalic engine paint

Also sussed out my 2 piece driveshaft project. This pic is with the shaft roughly in place. But have opened up the subframe driveshaft slot for it to fit and it now bolts to the standard fittings on the block and the outer part of the shaft is the same length as the passenger shaft!! This is purely luck! Will take a finish pic soon

Also built up a dummy engine and gearbox in the subframe so I can move the gearbox mount as the gearbox used to rest on the subframe

Looks like loads of room for the two piece driveshaft assembly. Really neat. This was one of the selling points of the Watsons Honda b16 kits, that it fitted the standard similar Honda set-up to equalise driveshaft lengths and minimise torque steer. Think a few will be watching with interest to see the result. What diff are you running?

Quiafe ATB.. was fine with the vvc engine and borderline with the old turbo engine. I am potentially going to have 280/300flbs of torque with the new engine so that will test it

Not happy with the condition of the repairs on the drivers side floor and flitch panel so these will be cut out and replaced soon will go for a complete floor half section and proper narrow outer sill and flitch repair panel.

Ive actually split the seem where the floor meets the front heelboard section! ( where the subframe and steering rack mount)
