Default Cable shifter on F18/F20

Did any of you guys managed to fit cable shifter?
I can see that MarkGTT used it and it is doable but his build thread is abandoned and there's not much detail about it...

I started to consider it lately and beside the better aesthetic look of the shifter itself, is there still need for that bulkhead box?

Vectra c f17 gearbox selector needed. I think you can then use Astra j vectra c 5 speed in car selector and cables. That's what I'm gonna use on mine. I'll update as I get round to it

The selector in the gearbox is something like 4 bolts and just pulls out, dead easy from what I remember

Sorted mine used vectra c f17 gearbox turret and metal gear cable bracket. Then used Astra j 5 speed gear stick and cables. Works mint.

Can you use any vauxhall 5 speed shifter? Can't seem to find any astra 5 speed. Mokka one on eBay with cables.
Does this give a better shifter position ,as it can be mounted lower?
