I heard years ago someone had fitted an VAG 1.8T to an R53 but not with the 4wd system. There was some talk about adding it but it all seemed to go quiet after that

I don't want to hijack this thread but that was built by a company that now seems to be defunct called Think MINI (hence the number plate). There is a thread on NAM about it but no info or pictures

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...onversion.html

only this video

He claims around 350bhp

TBH I have a JCW R60 and the 1.6 is just not quite powerful enough for the heavier body and All4 system. I had an Audi S1 for a bit (awful car but great engine) and always wondered whether either the EA888 engine from a Golf R/S3 with 4wd system or even and Evo engine and running gear would swap in to it. The problem seems to be that the electronics are completely integrated and it's just not simple like the older cars to swap out engines and ECUs as they all seem to need the OEM stuff to be constantly talking to each other to work

Once of the images links to what appears to be a build thread of sorts on Audi-Sport forum - I can't view pics (work computer restrictions) but hopefully they still work

Could a Moderator move the posts from #31 onwards and put in a new thread in the Non 16v Mini chat ? I'm just wary about the monumental hijack of this poor sod's build diary
