Pretty sure you can't solder aluminium.
You could epoxy an aluminium patch on to it but you'd have to clean the pineapple out of it.

You could try that low melting point Ali welding stuff. Comes in loads of trade names. Lumiweld springs to mind. But for the price of it you would probably be better off with a second hand pipe.

If it's the high pressure side your only viable bodge is a compression fitting with metal olives. If it's the low pressure side jbweld will be fine.. if your keeping the car more than a few months, buy a new pipe.

To add 206s have an issue with hairline crack forming where the steering pipes and valve body section of the rack join the main body of the rack. If the leaks in this area it's a real spring possibility. Proper cure is a new rack. The help a broke customer cure is to apply a light vacuum to the ps reservoir. Clean the hell outta the crack and drown in jbweld.

aye, all points considerd, thanks,, im a ruff bustard coz i have awhole 206 growing into the brambels but dont like the look of the pipe joiners> from rubber to alloy(look like miniture c,v boot clips(metal,,proper tool,) and me not being a mackanical lover lol
i gone halfrauds and got evostik matel epoxy putty, well the large print reads well lol,
so i dinykenn if its high pressure sidebut by the looks of it its 12/13 mm alloy and the other pipes look harder and dark in coulor, so lets hope its low pr,
i cleaned with whit spirit and set lite with blow torch to clean,
its up top so not the rack pipe issue you mentioned,, and its a dented rub through caused but the 2 top sucureing clips being broke and chaffing,
lets try and see what gives, lol

I'd love to read your risk assessment for this!
I've always found white spirit leaves a bit of an oily film. Try some of your nail varnish remover!

It will seal better if you glue a patch on rather than just a blob of epoxy.
I fixed a clutch pressure regulator on volvo 850 tdi by epoxying a 2p piece onto it. I'm not proud of this but it lasted for a year and was still there when I sold the car!

It's the semi smart user that's the issue.

I ended up downloading individual photos onto my ipad as the album link wouldn't work
