Jack, does the car pull to the left under acceleration? Does it then drive straight during gear changes? This has a feeling of torque steer. Every one says sort your suspension settings.
It's the Torsen diff! Seen this so many times now. ![]()

It’s worth getting the car set up, it could be poor geometry that is exaggerated by the Torsen.
Mine used to do it because I had a break in my frame, so even after I had the car setup, there would have been flex as I never realised it had broke. Your becoming obsessed with trying to get everyone to throw their Torsen’s in the bin Andrew. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

Yours had a spun bearing, I wouldn’t expect that would help it perform to its fullest.
As I previously mentioned, my subframe had a break in the webbing at the rear, an area I’ve since beefed up, the flex in my frame from that broken webbing is going to upset my geometry in all sorts of ways regardless of how many times I set it up and I believe it would be the same with the Quaife, the car pulled about when I had an open diff and the only time it pulled straight was when I previously repaired the broken webbing in the past, but it didn’t last long and I’ve never thought about it again until my recent strip down. I changed my diff purely on the basis that the Quaife is better but that doesn’t mean the Torsen is bad, Gazwad clearly proves it works with a good setup. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

It was all over the place during acceleration, also when backing off it wanted to wonder around a bit. Will see what it’s like when it’s all set up correctly

![]() Which could mean has actual torque steer, Jacks turbo engine was 250nm on his older map I believe, I don’t know how much it is since it was re-mapped. If I was in this situation I would start by having the geometry and corner weights set and then go from there. You need to decide with the corner weights wether you want it to be optimal with just the driver in the car or with a passenger, the problem with the passenger is they may not always be the same person. I intend on setting mine up for just myself and then if I’m ever playing with a passenger in the car, I’ll have to accept that the corner weights aren’t optimal, I rarely have passengers anyway. So theoretically, the car should naturally pull to the right with an open diff ?? and how does it react with an LSD ???

The Torsen is similar to the Quaife ATB so isn’t a true LSD. When you generate too much torque the Torsen passes the power from side to side to try and re-distribute it which can as I discovered can cause the car to pull both left and right under hard acceleration as the diff passes it from one wheel to the next trying to equal out. Well on the Rover.75 that this engine has come from, yes they do have the intermediate shaft. Chris tried to uses this on his Mini. It actually won't work as makes the remaining shaft too short to operate the suspension.

After doing the corner weights thought it would be best to check castor and camber. Gone for on the front 1.5 neg camber 6 degrees castor rear 0.5 neg camber hopefully do the tracking over the weekend
