Default the time has come for b16a1 std nose

As the title says, its time to get some horses between the wheels. been collecting the bits for a few weeks now and got my engine running yesterday after being stumped by a dizzy cap for 2 weeks. i rebuilt the mini over the winter , removeing all rust and stuff, heres a diary of so far. conversion pics will follow shortly although there wont be anything revolutionary, i'll be copying tried and tested methods learned off ths site.

had a bit of a delay, went to london for a week so got stuck into the frame yesterday for a few hours, just really need to do bottom brace bars and bottom arm bracket and connect my bolt on front section. copied the frame design from the guy of heres dad, smurfy think his name is, but the boltable front panel came from someone else but i dont know who.

I'd consider a remote oil filter cos you aint changing that once the engines in place

well i now have the chance to draw a line under this diary (hopefully) as i had some crank bearing issues with that engine aswell as other things. i was never quite happy with it, but it was cheap so no reall harm done. i've loved driving it these past few months but there always seemed to be another issue round the next bend. so i had bad rod knock so i could picture the crank bearing filings being everywhere inside the engine so my brother sold me his spare b16a1 for 100 and my old 1 for spares. to this i put on my old known excellent gearbox with not 1 crunch in 5 months and new lma's, the spring type. so enough with the words, heres how i spent the best weekend of the year so far while my mates and girlfriend and pretty much everybody i know went to the beach.

so thats that for now at least and the new engine feels far better and i would highly recommend getting the lma's for any a1's with vtec ticking, 93 from honda for 8 wee springs but worth it imo. now the tidy up operation begins, starting with the driveway and tools then the engine bay then the bodywork and a respray.
