cheers guys - i guess 1st step is to test fit the engine and gearbox, see what adjustments i need to make (if any) if i can get away with just elongating the hole in the bulkhead box then i will but it might mess up the location of the shifter.

will update soon.

I had exactly the same problem with my x16xe build measured all up spot on all mounts correct but the hole was in the wrong place and the linkage kept hitting it.I just cut the hole a little bigger,Also found that a mini cv boot fitted my selector shaft and sealed the hole spot on.

I know that on NuggerSS frame the bracket that the top mount bolts to was in the wrong place too.He had to cut that off and reweld it.It was as if the frame had been marked but the plate welded on the wrong side of the mark.

Do you actually need to keep any of the standard vauxhall engine mounting stuff for this or does the all speed stuff replace it completely?

Looking at your pics alex it looks like they are all all speed items and no sign of the original stuff.

No need for any of the vauxhall mounts, I just cut a small bit off one of mine and welded it to the allspeed one to fit a clip.

I also have a spot of bother with my gear linkage and the bulkhead hole. Mine is dead centre but the linkage is right at the bottom of the hole so when I engage 2nd or 4th it just kisses up against the bulkhead. More spacers required I think... and like Pete says I had to cut my 4th engine mount bracket off and weld it about inch and half to the right. I don't think they're an exact science...

Had a bit of time on the mini over the weekend, think i have sorted the linkage problem but moving the bulkhead cut out.. fingers crossed.

So test fitted the engine, spent about an hour in the bay, marked up what i wanted to ground back on the block and box and measured up for the master cylinders.

Also think i might need to elongate some of the mounting holes on the engine mounts.. it was sitting a bit snug on the front passenger side one.

A sneak peek, more to follow on final fitting

Next job to change the 5th gear on the box and change to a hydraulic clutch.

cheers, Mark
