Hi Atchi,

I've thought about running it with 3bar pressure although I've considered dropping it near 2.5bar where the flow rate would be more near to mk2 swift fuel rate. Actually I haven't thought about adding a swirl pot. I trust that the pump and and fuel regulator can keep the flow constant

Yeehaa! Got it running after many hours of work =)

This is how it looks today. Gotta say that this new inlet manifold and fuel rail sure look great! (well, atleast better than the old one) =P

I got it tuned so that idles but as there's still loads of snow I've to wait for atleast a month before I can even think about driving it on the roads and get it tuned. Gotta say one thing though: it's bloody freezing in the garage when you need to keep the door open if and when the engine fires and you try to type the adjustments to a laptop with ice cold fingers!

Yeah, I remember. Now the temperature was bearable in the garage to do something.

Have you thought about starting your own thread here? You have done so much to it already.

I think that I need to pass that event even though it sounds fun. I actually haven't ever driven this Mini on snow... it's complitely a summer car for me

Since there's sooooo much snow still on the ground and I can't have a go, I've installed the audio equipment and made new speaker boxes for the 6.5" front speakers. Actually I also relocated the amp in the boot and done other things there too but don't have proper pics..

But for the front, here you go:

This is something that I'm still working on as I did't have the proper bolts so I couldn't get the spark plug cover finished.

btw. It started today on a first try and the tempature was about zero degrees (a warm day, I know).

I've been struggling to find out what causes the rpms to "float" after giving some gas. It appears not to be a vacuum leak what I suspected but it's somehow connected to the vacuum block that gathers all the vacuums from each throttle body for the servo.

And how I know this? I've tested all the vacuum connections and tubes and none of them leaks. Then when I switched back the old (gsxr original) and very short tubes that are connected to a very small outgoing pipe to megasquirt or to servo, the floating rpm problem is gone.

So it seems that I need to ditch the Blox vacuum collection and take the vacuum to brake servo from a small tube, rather than from the system you see in the pics I've posted earlier.

Does this problem make any sense to you guys? Can that vacuum blox really cause that kind of problems even though it was supposed to be designed for that use?

Cheers

And those who wonder why I still haven't hit the road this year, here's the answer:

Update:

I've finally got the brakes working. First I found out that the master cylinder in the servo system leaked due roughness in the bore and as the roughness was too deep in the bore to get in working order again I ditched the whole servo setup and installed the old master cylinder (black tag, 17.8mm) which in the end didn't work as well as it should. Mainly the reason was too small bore which caused it to push too little fluid to move the calipers.

Then plan B. I had an old master cylinder/servo setup from Austin Metro (20.6mm) which I decided to try. I ditched the servo and installed just the master cylinder in place of the old one. It took 10 hours of work to make the adapter bracket to hold the master cylinder in place due poor tools but in the end, it works great! The pedal travel is probably less than 5cm and the brakes feel extremely efficient. And the best thing is that now I got loads of more space to work in the engine bay as the servo is gone

So it's starting to look like that I'll get the Mini in running order just before departure to the IMM in couple of weeks

Edit: some pics for you guys =)

And now something complitely different (:

1. Let's take one old rusty bonnet and make few holes to it:

2. Fix the lip to look like a mk1 bonnet.

3. Spend hours and hours of sanding and filling.

4. And what shall this be...

5. A bathtub for filters! =) (yes, it has a draining hole)

6. And here how it looks when done.

7. Another pic of the filter strap.

PS. the trip to IMM Germany went really well, I only had to change the battery, CV joint and clutch slave cylinder in Nurberkt. No other big problems on our 1500km journey...

That's just far too fancy and shouldn't be allowed

did you just remove the lip for the bonnet or do you have to "fill" a little?

good work man looks really nice.

That looks absolutely awesome, only thing that would worry me is rain getting into the filters. Stunning build

Thanks guys

Marcus: I haven't been at home for a week so I don't know if the stickers have arrived or not. Will see that on Saturday, until then I'll be in the garage

Mininut: Actually if the bonnet would have been in a good shape, removing the bonnet should have been enough but in this case, I had to make a new lower edge for the bonnet as it was rusted away.
