Hi all,
OK - I have the booster/slave and master cylinder from a Metro Gti - this is normally mounted upright (correct?!). How do I connect this to the pedal!? I have took a pic at mini in the park of someones car with this bit in - what is it? Where do I get it and what does it do? Sorry - not 2 good with brakes!!!

Large thing is the Servo, Small round thing is a 1-way valve, it enables the inlet manifold (Bit where the carbs/injection are) to 'Suck' the brakes on via the servo, which has a large diaphragm inside the big round thing. The whole lot sort of works like a set of bellows (What your Gran would have used to put wind in the coal to light a fire in the 50's)
The small round 1 way valve will only let air go through the black tube one way -from the servo to the engine Its very easy to fit back to front - this is easy to spot - as you'll have very hard brakes to push and not a lot will happen.
You'll also need the correct servo hose, as the suction from the engine will compress the tube if non-servo hose is used.
Sorry if that makes no sense at all - you have to think in pictures! Or check under the bonnet of a normal mini or Haynes manual
You'll need one from a Mini not a metro BTW, you can get them from Mini shows if you don’t like scavenging scrap yards
I have a Servo on my car, but to be honnest I cant tell the difference.
Photo looks like Tony's car if I'm not mistaken, with the T/B's and red cam cover

Sorry, i'm not that stupid - I understood everything you said - but what I really want to know is what the thing is between the servo and the brake pedal linkage - the main thing in the picture. I mean I could cut a large hole in my baulkhead and convert the pedal to push towards the front of the car (servo direction) or I could use this thing which looks as if in does all the work for you and seems to fit in nicely. Any ideas anyone?

Oh - its your car!!! Soryy - hope you dont mind - I think I know of the bit I need - its the bit imbetween th epedal and the slave cylinder. Off a late mini?!
Yeah, that whole system is off the original MPi Mini that i converted. Its a 1997 one, so you should be able to get hold of them fairly easily......

Try Megamini as they usually have a good supply of late model mini stuff in good nick, address will be in Miniworld. Its called a Canterlever servo brake pedal assembly (something like that)
Try getting one that isn't as rusty as mine, i tried to remove it last week... its been on the car for 6 years, and all the bolts just sheared off, which makes it very awkward to remove....
