I've had a look at the website, is actualy as simple as it seems cus I cant belive it is! :?
I've been reading up on the emerald 3k system (or somthing like that), I think its a Haynes book, and realy fancy the idea of using my own system as I can fix/upgrade it myself, the megasquirt seems to be a bit more flexable, I want to be able to add a MAP sensor at a later date and again the Megasquirt system says this is possible, 8)
I am a strong supporter of linux and all things non-corporate!
Geehawk? You seem to be a strong supporter of megasquirt.

Dont know where you got that idea from
MattG is your man on all things :megasquirt:
If you're a Linuxy person then build a Megasquirt & use the sooperb Megatunix software for all yer configgery.
Yes it is simple to build and fune to tune & tweak :-)
I'll be using another MS in the Pievan.

I was planning on installing the standard Metro ecu and loom to get me started and fingers crossed down to Riv run then playing with the ecu at the end of the summer, Glad to hear it working on a rover V8, as the plan on learning to use the system is so i can stuff a chevy in my e34 bimmer!
So the question is.... is it worth putting the std metro stuff in first or am i wasting my time? :?
Spag, love the trolley jack racing, is that Trevelgue by night? :D

sup to you, if you want it driveable and reliable asap then fit the metro stuff, if the cars on the road say a month or so v4 the run then go megasquirt and get it sorted.

Do you guys use the standard rover kit with MS or are you using TB's?
Cost is going to be a factor cus I've gotta fork out for the subframe kit yet! 8)

i believe spag uses the standard rover EFI manifold on his V8, matt uses a set of motorbike throttle bodies. and i dont think anyo one else runs megasquirt.
when i go down this toute i will run with the standard manifold/injectiors/throttle and get it running with these "known good" parts first. then look into bodies etc for more power. keeps initial cost down too.
So the question is.... is it worth putting the std metro stuff in first or am i wasting my time? :?

If you have all the existing stuff (and it works) , then fit it first to get the car running. It will give you a chance to check all the mechanical stuff out, and make sure that the fool injection stuff is OK.
Then hack the loom, to get the MS in. I butchered a spare Lucas ECU to make a magic adapter plug so that I can swap 'tween MS & Lucas for a backup. It took a bit of thinking on the loom, but not too hard.
Re:- Trolley jack racing... Could be ;-)

Sounds like a plan so cunning you could pin a tail on it and call it a weasel!
Think i'll probably go the same route, anybody recomend a good book to help with MS? please :D
I need to get panels and subframes and doner car yet so just getting it on the road will be enough for now! :D

Yeah I lost a few hours on that site!
Interesting stuff, am I right in thinking no special tools required?
Other than the obvious multimeter and soldering iron etc?
