Just curious what tools people have that they think are most essential / favourite / wanted ?
My favourite is my cebora mig welder,
Other ESSENTIALS have been having 2 grinders (one with cutting disc, one with wire brush!), hammer, spot weld drill
Next purchases will be a DA sander, and getting the plasma cutter serviced so I can give it a go (not been able to get it running since I bought it off ebay)
Also bought a pipe bender recently that does upto 3" diameter but not had a chance to "play" yet !!!

Camera!

Great for 'remembering' ideas & details of things that you see, and for sharing your own monstrosities with others.

Hmm, perhaps the interweb or something 'putery would have been better ?

Argh buggerit I'll go with the FBH (fairly big hammer) everytime :-)

My favorite tool name. Long Dong. There is also a Super Long Dong. These are items used for climbing. Almost bought one for a friend just because of the name. There are a lot of other climbing tools that have really funny names as well.

theres a machine electrician where i work ( recognised as the best), and all he has is a leatherman and a terminal screwy, i must spend a lot on tools for the fun of it.
i have a safmig 200 amp 3 phase weld set which i modded to work on 240, its not up to it, anyone know a reasonable 240v price mig set capable of about 200 amp?.

Think so, the bends end up being smaller diameter than the straight bits yeah?

Dave coxon had some good advice on using these kind of pipe benders - pack the pipe full with sand first and temporarily weld a cap over each end (obviously make the pipe a bit longer than needed!), then bend it and it doesn't crush - not tried it yet though but it sounds like it should work :)
