the funny thing is i drove it down the drive and it was ok, it was 2 hrs later when i went to pull it up again. Last week i let it warm up but never realised the capillary hose to the gauge has snapped so it got a bit hot.

you sure its oil? could be just sooted and flooded if you turned it off before the choke went off.stick a set of plugs in it and try again :|

Me too now, well nearly.
None starting problem was the fuel pump which had decided to pack in. When i think about it it did the same last year after it had been stood, maybe its time for a new one.
Cleaned the plugs and it fired up so no idea where the oil came from, maybe down the valve guides.
I cant get a capillery tube as they are attached to the gauge. Speedy cables have quoted me £40 (FBM Spec said that was cheap) for a repair so i think i'll trade it in for a new electrical one.

Took the car off the trailer tonight and the battery was flat. Now was the fuel pump bust or is there an under lying electrical problem. It's all fun and games aint it.

i would say your battery is FURBAR as when it was jumped it was ok........but then again if its not charging it might be the alternator :?
