Hi All

I having been in the background of this forum for a long time whilst working on my build and i have finally got into gear to create a build diary (with some 'gentle' persuasion from James (wannago)!

I started the conversion late May last year, hoping to get it done before the winter but obviously that didn't happen and only now am i getting to the final stages in my build :D

Hopefully the pictures should explain it all quite nicely!

This is how she started out......

Dropping the old lump out

http://i548.photobucket.com/albums/ii358/stolyrov/n570755668_579210_2179.jpg

taa daaaa....

http://i548.photobucket.com/albums/ii358/stolyrov/n570755668_579213_409.jpg

Next was to order up my subframe from Allspeed which arrived bang on time and looked gorgeous!

http://i548.photobucket.com/albums/ii358/stolyrov/n570755668_602009_3137.jpg

Some bodywork trimming was next needed

http://i548.photobucket.com/albums/ii358/stolyrov/n570755668_618006_7017.jpg

and then fill it all back in again....... (with a little help from my buddy)

Filler and primer next

Before this stage one should check that there engine fits in and surprise surprise it didn’t fit so i had to re cut it all and repaint it later in the build (although I didn’t take any pics! doh!)

Subframe in (still with old body work)

Ended up collecting the engine from one of the members off this forum down in Portsmouth, and what a beauty she was (the engine that is)

Couldn't resist giving the rocker cover a quick tart up!

Next up was getting the engine in the car...... what a mission! The old man and me must have spent a good hour trying to shoe-horn it in!

In... safe and sound!

Fuel tank and fuel pump was the next thing to be done. As it had the original carb tank in there, I wiped it out and replace with an SPI tank, removing all of the pump etc so I was just left with the outlets which connected to an external Walbro pump.

Most of the winter was spent wiring and plumbing in the engine! Big thanks again to James (wannago) who gave me a cracking diagram to follow and plenty of helpful tips :D

After:

This is where i am up to now, just got to plumb in the brakes and clutch and then i am pretty much done :D

Just can't wait to get her on the road hehe

Looking great. Take a pic of your braided clutch line, want to see how it compares to the one I got made.

Looks lovely. How have you wired up the mini clocks? Especially the speedo?

haha sorry buddy, never have been the best at spelling :D

The clutch line fitted perfectly, and i managed to roll her back and forwards a little bit which was really neat! Got all the brakes plumbed in to which was cool, although I ran out of time to start bleeding them. Fingers crossed I will get them sorted tomorrow so i can take her for a run up the road :D :D

Cheers mate :D Yeh i have used the mini temp, fuel and rev counter guages but will be swapping the speedo for the one used by minimike in his build diary as it looks awesome and fits in the dash perfectly.
