Firstly Im must apologies for putting so many posts on this forum but it does help the advice I am getting!.

Having never use fuel injection before and ECUs, I was wondering if I could run the K series on carbs (webbers?) , this would make the electrical side of converting the mini alot simpler. Has anybody had experience of using for example a Lumenition Optronic system on the metro dizzy or is it a complete impossibility? Am I stuck with having to integrate the ECU and its many wires, into the mini wiring loom?, I am only using the single point injection, so carbs would probably produce more power anyway. Being fairly competent at welding and general oily bits, the electrical side of things scares me !( I have no patience for wiring diagrams!)

Mark,
Find a Rover 214 MPi in a breakers and remove the injection system - together with the loom. As i understand, the loom is all in the engine bay, with just a few wires leading insde, like oil pressure, rev counter, live feed, etc...
It should be a doddle to wire in...

This is a site i've found recently
http://andybiggles.tripod.com/id389.htm
It talks about modding a spi to Mpi, so there is lots of info in there...

Don't be such a wus - Injection is there for a reason - it's better than carbs!!!
And if the same mods can be done to the Spi metro as to the SPi minis (mighty minis for example) then you will probably be getting close to the MPi power anyway!!!

I can help you with the Spi mods that i helped a mighty mini racer do...

Just watch that the UCU doesn't come from a latter car that had the immobiliser fitted. They wont run unless they are aligned withe imobiliser (5AS) and a key fob to be aligned with the 5AS - all Rover dealer jobs - been there, done that.

Dave Andrews on the K-Series, does seem to be akin to Dave Vizard on the A-series - what he says can be taken as gospel to my mind...

Dave is a great chap. He assisted me with my head mods and even let me go down to his to use his valve seat cutters - 6 hours of manually cutting seats created some blisters!! He was into computers then but I understand that the K series tuning has taken over full time now.
