You won't need to cut quite so much out ofthe rear of the subby as you will hit the rack. Front crosspiece needs to be lowered to clear exhaust manifold. Std manifold has no chance of fitting - make your own , or modify the std one. Go to spagweb for better photos of how much you need to cut away around the driveshaft holes.
4a-ge is not the easiest of conversions.
Eh, did someone mention spagweb...

another thing, is it the only way to go Toyota inner shafts and Mini outer shafts, or can i keep the Toyota drive shafts & hubs, i know this will give me a really wide track.

Don't take this as gospel but I 'think' I'm correct. Seem to remember someone who was looking at this that he MR2 is 11" wider then the Mini so if you don't cut them down it will be really wide.

ouch, thats quite wide, havent measured them yet. will probably be looking into just shortening the Toyota shafts, as keeping the Toyota hub will benefit me the most.
Mini parts are hard to find in S.A. and keeping the Toyota hub will make fitting wheels alot easier as 100pcd wheels are alot more commen in these parts.
Decent Mini wheels are as rare as chicken teeth here, and way to expensive to import considering the Rand/Pound exchange rate.
I see you need help with the side shafts on your conversion, look what we do here in Jozi is use the Toyota inner C.V and cut off shaft and then the outer Mini CV with a cut off shaft sleeve it then weld it. So both Shafts will be pressed into the sleeve then welded. Then with the Toyota Hubs, I would leave it standard if you want to use the 100PCD Mag Rims you can but you just have to adapt it. With a Wheel Adaptor that has the PCD of a Mini 101.6 and can adapt to any 100 or 114 PCD it is about 25mm wide. Also with the Brakes what you can use there is Golf 1/3 Calipers, Toyota RSI (vented) or Corolla (solid) Discs with also just an adptor plate. Mini Workshop in Gauteng can help you even with a modified frame to it already. I know they have tested and perfected this conversion. Anyway wish you all the best... Hope this helps... :D

Hi Porra, where in Cpt are you from? Im from cpt to and were planning on starting our own mini club in the near future. If you are on facebook, search "Cpt mini owners club" ,one of the members are also busy with a 4age conversion, and i intend to start mine end of this year :D

Howzit man
Frames are avail from Tommy in JHB (Mini Workshop) +- R5000 - all the donkey work has been done AND they fit.
Check out the build thread i have started for the 20 valve clubby for pics of the frame.
Oh and wheels are pretty easy to come by, Tiger carries the 2 Racing hart 13" wheels - last time i checked they are just over R3000 a set and have both the correct offset AND the 4x101.6mm PCD.
They do a 5 spoke one similar to the old 125kW Super Boss ones and a 8 spoke similar to Mini lights - alt there is a guy in JHB (Lynton) that imports Superlights from Auz - got his number somewhere but they are quite a bit more expensive.
Keep the Mini hubs bru, whether it be drum or disk, Drums hubs can be converted to take cheap Golof disks and calipers, again see our 20 calve build thread on this site.
Oh and spares can be gotten from Alan at the Sports car centre in JHB - top oke to deal with and prices are fair.

Thanks for all the info will definitly be in touch, project taking a back seat at the moment due to the financial situation, so i'm taking the time to get all the smaller/cheaper bits done.
P.S. how do i go about joining S.A. Mini Owners (Cape Town)
