heres the mockup of a toyota 16v 4E (non-turbo starlet motor) fitted to a nissan CUBE gearbox for simplicity, now powers trinidad's superman mini. al post more photos of the complete conversion, anyone can suggest a good hosting site? http://www.theminiforum.co.uk/forums/uploads/monthly_09_2007/post-7710-1189264186_thumb.jpg

ive been following your micra engine conversions on the mini forum and trinimini :D very interesting, nice small engine and gearbox, pity they wernt a bit more powerfull to make it more worthwhile in this country! i notice the sunny 1.4 16v makes 87 bhp, will this engine fit on the micra box? they are a lot more plentyfull in this country.. and the extra oomph would make it more worthwhile...[the 1.6 16v makes 100bhp :D ,but this would probably be to much for the micra box, even if it does fit]
keep up the good work!!!!!!
i use photobucket by the way :D

completed subframes on the floor, we simultaneously did another micra conversion
(this is our 13th conversion in a little over a year)

both engines during final fit. notice the subaru cross-drilled rotors and huge green nissan calipers. both engines level and fully mounted...

excelent engineering!! :D am i right in thinking the toyota engine is carb rather than injection? what sort of power does it give, and what car is it out of? :D the 16v micra engine seems to be carb fed as well, is this standard in trinidad or did you convert it? [all 16v micras in the uk are injection] keep up the good work
Lovely job on the frames :D
Out of interest, is the starlet turbo engine (minus manifolds) the same dimensions as the non turbo?

It looks very little invasive your project, congrats.
could you explain how the system of the shift lever inside the car, hopefully a photo.

i serviced a 1.0 16v micra today , and saw it through different eyes :D
but i see a snag, uk micras all have injection, and the inlet manifold curves down from the head and back 9 inches [right where the bulkhead/ crossmember would be in a mini] . so ii think you would need a new inlet manifold, or some severe mods to the crossmember and bulkhead :(
trinimini,s seem to have a carb on the 16v engines, so the manifolds are different, ..................... any thoughts?

pritch. we got the nissan calipers on by building a 1/4' plate that bolts to the bearing housing of the drum brake hub and then drilled holes to bolt up the calipers from the nissan gloria. the discs are subaru machined to the mini flange and redrilled, more photos later
batespeed. the toyota engine here is really rare! a carbd 4E from a corolla, according to the internet it doesnt even exist but i believe it was a version offered in some third-world countries, good for bout 100 horses without the cat ,and 2" exhaust. the nissan manifold as well as the honda(in the honda sectoin) are both fabricated pieces. the nissan was made by grafting the flange from the cg13 onto the body of the ma10 manifold for the same crossmember reason that u observed, that and we werent ready to make the fuel injected plunge! thee ports lined up perfectly and they were welded and profiled. the distributor is a nissan e15 sleeved and shortened with a new keyway and mini pinchclip. the new subframe will now be adjusted but the efi manifold is actually shorter than the last one(a little bulkier and lower doh), maybe some slanting will work, not worried.
owen. the starlet turbo is exactly the same outer dimensions (4e-fe vs 4efte) the differences include oil pump, water pump, manifolds filter housing. mite be a future project if i come across an engine!
ingravido. yes we try not to cut as much of the car as possibleas it makes the job look alot more, tastefully done. this way both purists and modifiers appreciate all the effort! the shifter used is a nissan rod shifter since the gearbox is from a nissan cube. we chose this box for its size, ratios and shifter. its from a nissan Y11 wagon and gives the best shift ever!! spring loaded 1st and second, central 3rd and 4th and spring loaded 5th and reverse. its just shortened eleven inches and sleeved and rewelded, al post pics later.

cross brace for toyota subframe. the toyota engine has one of the shallowest sump pans i've ever seen, allowing easy fitment of cradle braces below:

also a glance back to a past project, a toyota 4E an mini gearbox. car uses original mini running gear with AC and boosted disc brakes. first japanese project done by the S&S brothers......
