looks good , the only thing i would ask is why have you not gone for the std round nose "allspeed" cross member ?

well done looking very tidy! i like the polished camcover very bling!

i take it you're going green for the car colour as the bulkhead has been done?

keep up the good work

Matt if you look closely at the last couple of pictures , i think you can see that he has made a new front crossmember, as it is not the same as the earlier ones.

I know , i was wondering why he had not swaped the "allpseed" clubman cross member for a "allspeed" standard round nose cross member , as this would then causes any warrenty/insurance problems as its all allspeed kit.

when i ordered the subframe i told allspeed that it was for a standard round nose but they sent me the clubman one. couldnt be bothared to send the other one back and wait for a new one so i made one. do you think it would cause any warrenty/insurance problems.

Hi guys, sorry but i actually live in south africa and has become so interested in doing the same project.

About 2 months ago I took this exact same motor out of my car and are now looking for a car to put it in. I have decided that it must be a mini.

I see that you use a subframe bought from somewhere. Where will I be able to get the same thing, or should I build it myself. The other thing is, what sideshafts are you using, as I suppose the normal 2l sideshafts would be too long etc.

welcome to the forum!!

another south african nice :D

well to be honest forget about buying a subframe, its just waay too expensive to import from overseas with the current exchange rates!!rather do some searching and research and make up your own!!!

don't be scared to ask questions in the vauxhall section, the guys here are really helpful

most guys use custom shafts, it depends on whether you keeping mini suspension etc.

good luck

Is your engine that is sitting higher than other similar conversions or is it just your timing cover.
Other covers have no edges, they're a constant radius, yours seems different to the others. Maybe its just the cover that's causing the misfit.

skye
18-05-2009, 09:15 PM
where did you get the speedo sensor from franky?

*franky*
19-05-2009, 06:51 PM
yeah the timing cover does sit a bit high but am wanting to keep the cover on dont realy like the look of having no timing cover on pluse its safer.
syke i got it off the acewell web site mate think it was only 15 or 20 quid makes the job a lot easer 8)

Tidy job there mate, is it me or is your steering wheel really off to the right as you sit in it?

pob
19-05-2009, 09:09 PM
I didn't mean to run it without a cover.
If you look at the build diary of some of the other 2.0L 8V's the timing cover seems to be smaller than yours.

done a bit more to the mini got my front end all wired up head lights in no grill yet tho. made a plate that is hinged to the bulk head to mount my fuse box on, keeps it tucked away. re-fitted fuel pump set up with filter. spent quite a bit of time doing the in side of the car made some rear pannels and covered them pics below. still got a long way to go but getting there any way the pics.

just been plodding on the last few weeks got the car over to my work made a temperary exhaust untill i can afford a stainless one looks ok for now tho, still have not heared it few more things to do, to get the engine running again. fitted the air con, no roof lol. mind the steel roof is heavie for what it is. started with the intake pipe again just a few little things to weld up on it, think it looks a lot better when you can not see the air flow meter,
should have the dash all painted by the weekend if i can kick my self in to gear lol and stop behind at work and get it done.
just seems like i am doing all this work to the car and it is still no closer to been finished. any way here is some pics.

Air will not flow very well through that bend at the end of the air flow meter, you're much better off doing as you've done the other end and using a 90 degree samco hose.

yeah had a better look at it when i got it to work so i shaped the smaller tube that fits in side the bigger one to the insied profile then welded some plates in to make the flow much better than what it was, thanks any way lads ;)

Looking good dude!

Maybe a reversed inlet manifold would saved some hassle?

But if you manage to mess up the air flow badly enough, you'll end up with the same power as an A-Series ........ all show and no go. ;)

Reverse the inlet & fit the MAF under the OS inner wing.
