Here is my partially completed Honda engined mini in a std round nose, i got this mini a few weeks ago without any running gear, has allot of welding required and needs the wiring done. Also needs a new cylinder head and other bits and pieces finished off, but it has the potential for a good 16v mini!
Dead door pillar and sill =(

and unfortunately after looking closer at the head the cam pulley has sheared off the cam and the cam is scored and the head is scored...... so a new std head was on the cards but i cant get it for a month soooo iv went for a mini me conversion putting a D16Z6 Vtec head on my D16Z2 block. This should give me around 135 bhp ish
pics of the dead cam and timing pulley....

Been ages since my last post, too many minis to repair around here!! money is money tho and now iv been able to get some of my own work done!
Decided against fitting the vtec head for the moment as i need to figure out what went wrong in the first place with the old head. So off with the old and on with the new
Finally got the new head from a junker at the local scrappy, took a month for one to come in...........

The new rev counter/ water temp/ oil temp/ oil pressure gauge has arrived!!
http://i295.photobucket.com/albums/mm154/minimad30/vtec/newer%20honda%20pics/IMG_0154.jpg
Had to get this before i would have preferred but due to a suspect oil pressure problem i had to splash out early!
But unfortunately it is reading about 50 60 psi which i think is normal on startup from cold. I really dont want to run it tho to see if it drops to normal pressure, soo im at a standstill at the moment.
im thinking about replacing the oil pump now just incase but at £81 its not cheap....... Anyone know where i can get one a bit cheaper for a D16Z2 honda SOHC???
Anyone know what else may be the problem? i know there is a pressure regulating valve which sits in the block and i dont know if it can go duff or not??
there is the pickup in the oil pan which may be clogged but the oil was never sludgy anywhere but i just dont know
Good looking project. Did you build the subframe? If you did you've done well fitting it in under the standard front, Well done.

Before the car was mine it was a friend of a friends, i fabricated the frame and did the welding but it was his design. Just another welding job lol! I wasn't really interested in 16valvers then, luckily the guy moved to england and wanted shot of the project!! so after finding more about the engine that he fitted from the helpful folk on here i bought it!
I think ill do the next one differently, people on here have done some amazing jobs on their frames! Given me so many ideas!!
