Hi all,
havbe been building my 1.6 kseries mini for some time now and am getting nearish completion.
Really want to get it done over christmas and new year in time for the fifty year anniversary of minis next year and to take it to some shows.
Also really interested in doing some hill climbs as the car is going to be quite track focused.

Anyway have found this site very useful during my build and would like to post some pictures in the hope of helping others.

Can anyone tell me how to post pictures cos i am not the best with computers.

Hi Tim!

The easiest way to post pics is using a photobucket, imageshack etc,

here is a link to imageshack, http://www.imageshack.us/

you just upload the pics and image shack gives you a code that you copy and paste in you message,

should look like this,

then use "preveiw" button to check if it´s work

Bought my first mini for £200 with the idea of turning it into a kseries roadster but after spending a lot of time and doing loads of cutting and welding, I got a bit fed up of bodywork and decided that the rot was just too bad to make a decent job with the shell I had.
So I stripped everything I could salvage and binned the shell.
Bought a new refurbished shell from ebay for £400 so i had a solid base to start from.
This is it after i lengthened the wings by 90mm to fit the fibreglass bonnet I got from Watsons and also welded a up a lot of the holes in the bulkhead I knew I wouldn't need

Bought a metro GTI from ebay for £90 but the engine turned out to be shagged so stripped it for bits, keeping what I needed for the mini and scrapped the shell.
Then bought a Rover 216 from Simpson Salvage in York for £200 delivered and took the engine / gearbox and full wiring loom / clocks for the mini. Engine only has 30,000 miles so should be a good one.

It isn't until you think back how much you actually spend on these projects that the full amount is realised. Never kept a proper total of what i have spent. Don't think it would make pleasant reading.

Anyway, fast forward a few months (can't remenber how long I have actually been on with this project) and i had modified the subframe from the metro to fit the mini and bought the spacer kit from Watsons for the rear hubs.

Bought some brand new wheels for a metro from ebay for £80 cos the ones that came with the metro were a bit scabby.

Engine is in and trial fitted to the car. Fitted metro GTI seats but didn't keep them in for too long as want to make car suitable for track days and hill climbing.

so will you by the looks of the pics, keep it up fella, the more k series minis the better, we need to keep these Honda guys busy :)

Yes will definetily keep pressing ahead. Car looks a little different now cos have made some progress since last photos taken.

Will hopefully get the car out of the garage at the weekend if it ever stops raining and update the photos.

Made some further porogress on car over Christmas, bloody cold working in an unheated garage though.
Corbeau Forza seat from Ebay fitted and gearlinkage sorted and fitted. Took some fiddling about and further bending in situ to clear exhaust but seems to be working well.

Fitted braided hoses with 'p' clips inside car and into boot. Just waiting for alloy tank from SM Engineering and will fit pump and sender unit from rover tank inside.

Wish I could figure out how to post pictures properly so they don't just come up as crappy thumbnails with the size on them. Think I am the only person on this whole site that can't figure it out.....

Picture of underbonnet.
Engine is in and wired up, radiator is plumbed in and all ready to go.
Was going to wait until i got the new fuel tank to fire her up but been told it will take a couple of weeks to fabricate therfore i think i will use the time to take the head off and have a go at porting.
Need to match the vvc inlet manifold to the head and will have a go at opening up waterways and exhaust as well.

Just hope I don't make a arse of it.

Was pricing up a set of Piper cams as well but seem a rip off by the time you add the vernier pulleys in and getting someone to time it properly would be looking at nearly 500 quid for about 15bhp.

Waiting to get a 52mm throttle body from Ebay for the right price.
