What suggestions do people have for the gearbox remote for the K series, as the two levers from the remote are side by side. I was going to use the complete metro remote but cut the rods down to size. Is there also an issue with the exhaust as the mini has limited space , how would you overcome this problem?

Many thanks

If you take a look at my site www.theclubman.co.uk you can see what I have done.

Basically I have reshaped the Metro item to fit. It can be quite tight, but if you do a few trial fits as you go along its reasonably easy to get in. There is more space than you think. If more space is needed you could always make the Mini tunnel a bit larger, but I did not want to go that route.

Your site is very helpful, especially after lying under the car and staring at it for hours wondering which way to go!.

Does the exhaust fit under the remote, I assume this is the case. I was also wondering about the metro frame and how it sticks out the front of the clubman, have you considered chopping back the frame a couple of inches and rewelding , I would have thought the only problem would be the alternator?

Darren, Your gallery does not appear on the list or it is not there at all. I tried thedarkhorse and darenw but none exist. Which one is really yours?

Watsons did my frame, but were reluctant to move the front cross member back, as yes there are clearance issues with the oil filter assembly, and the starter motor. The alternator is also a way forward but is higher than the frame (bodywork is its limiting factor).
Having got it all in, there is room to move the crossmember back a couple of inches, more if a remote oil filter is fitted, and possibly a smaller starter motor. If a smaller alternator can be fitted, then bodywork clearance issues will be lessened. In fact you could get the alternator further from the body by adjusting it towards the engine if a suitably shorter belt can be found.

At sometime in the future I may modify the frame further to move back the crossmember, and do all the above, but I'm not too bothered. I'm happy with my front end, as I had to redesign it to get the extra lights in place anyway (for those that dont know they used to be in the grill, but the engine/radiator put paid to that idea)

And yes the exhaust fits in its original position (mines 2") and the gearshift rod sit above it, and clear it :D

ah yes I forgot about the oil filter it is low down, a remote filter will probably be the only option. I think cutting the front frame will not be so easy as the supports for the engine mountings will also have to be modified, Agh!

I think you were sensible to make a front spoiler to cover the frame probably the easier option, I was going to use a carbon fibre front end, but that would be difficult to make a spoiler for, well to atleast make it look like it was not bodged on! so a steel front end it will probably be
