Decided tp keep the 8v in the mini until i get everthing ready for the 16v valve to go in. Im planning on puting R1 carbs onto it and using megajolt i bought my megajolt ecu on thursday it hasn't arrived yet. Im going to have a go at making my manifold for the r1 carbs so today i cut down the old inlet manifold.

This is what i started with

I marked it with chalk just below the injector rail mounting holes
http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh127/crd86/DSC04448.jpg
And used this to cut it

I ended up with this.
i dont know weather i will use this manifold or how i will go about connecting the carbs i mite use rubber hose or weld pipe onto it or i mite even end up buying one, will have to wait until i get the carbs and see how they line up and what size they are.

Right i managed to buy a set of zzr1100 carbs set up for an xe by bogg bros and on a bogg bros manifold on friday and the car went through mot on sat morning so when i got it home i started to take the engine out. :D
When i was starting i thought this should be handy enough looks like it will slip out through the top no problem was i wrong
There was one bar that the gearbox wouldnt come past so i had to unbolt the gearbox when it was half out and take them out separately!

But i got there in the end just want to give in round the engine bay a good clean and tidy up now before i put the xe in which i will do during the week and hopefully put the xe in next saturday. I am thinking of puting a new clutch in it to just when i have it out but not sure yet.
I will keep yous posted and post some pictures of the carbs and manifold up when they get here.

Will go out tomorrow and take pics of it in and get them up! :D

you will have to let us know If you think the 16v is a better or worse motor than the 8v when you have finished. I know my opinion but be nice to come from someone whos had both

Yeh will do hopefully its the 16v or i will have wasted a lot of money! lol Hopefully have it running by next week but before i start driving it properly again i have to fit new ball joints and get the calipers reconditioned so i can bleed them properly some of the bleeding nipples broke!

Went out this morning do get a few things done but took a bit longer than i thought got the trigger wheel on for the megajolt and the vr sensor had to make a wee bracket up. I got the exhaust and mainifold on aswell but had to heat and bend the manifold to get it to sit right. Got my gear linkage adjusted aswell and selecting gears. Heres a couple of pics of the engine in.

Got my rad in and the fan on My old fan broke so i had a look about the garage and i got one off a isuzu trooper that fits! Used cable ties to hold it on throught the rad with a bit off rubber either side

Got the intercooler back on and the front end. I wasnt going to but the intercooler back on as im fed up with the question is she a turbo? No! Whats that for then? If i had a pound for every time someone said that. But anyway think it looks better than wire mesh would.

This is how I had attached mine before and they just rusted and snapped and it looked pap, I have just redone mine using stainless steel cable ties (search ebay - cheap as chips) and they should not do the same...just a tip.

Yeh i seen those cable ties on ebay and thought il just use the wire but didnt think of it rusting will have to invest in some steel cable ties then Cheers

you want to connect the intercooler upto the the airbox , at least it would bring the inlet temps down :)
