Slight typo, it should be M.L. Motorsport. They are based in Kent.

If I'm not mistaken the conversion they do/did is to fit a Watsons Vtec kit for you. :)

Thanks Geehawk. Just one more thing I am going to see a 2.0 ltr vauxhall conversion tomorrow and wondered if you had any tips of what to look out for. Apparently it has a slight creese on one of the front wings due to engine movement at some point? Does sound normal? looking at the pics it looks in pretty good nic. Very profesionally installed It was converted 4 yrs ago and has been fetured in Mini World. Any advice would be much appreciated. Cheers

Is the one youre going to see a pale blue Clubman???

If so the only thing I would say is that the engine looks very high in that particular car....

Apart from that I would really not know what to look for on a Vauxhall conversion, other than cracking around the subframe mounting points, etc.. Try asking in the Vauxhall section if you have not already.

Regarding ML motorsport. The Convertion Andy does uses the watsons frame but i belive he is interested in the AMT frame if it ever gets finished. He is based in kent just up the top of the A21. Andys work is very good he has done quite a bit of work for me and mates of mine could not recomend in enough. Just look at some of the cars he has built the are featured in mini wold / mini mag. Hope this helps Steve

Thanks for all the advice, I have seen some of ML's work in Mini World and it looks great. My next port of call is going to be there. Cheers all.

All,

I spoke with Andy Bell at length in August (Southern Mini Days) about his M.L. Motorosport VTEC conversion. It's his car that's featured in this month's Mini Magazine (the black/orange clubman).

He indicated that Andy Davies of M.L. did the work on his car with a lot of care and precision (you can tell by the result) but that his conversion was quite expensive due to the many 'extras' that were added.

He indicated that the conversion can easily cost £10K if you follow his route.

Yes i think you are right on the guestimated price of Andy Bells mini but all the finishing bits do add up, and if you look at that car there are a lot of finishing bits. Also the engine went in without a flip frount and inner wings left in ( they were modified ). I belive the engine had to go in and out a few times to get this perfect and Andy Davis would not have it any les then perfect. :D

I have been to see the Mini in question (black and Orange Clubman) and it is superb. After having a chat with Andy I did offer the owner some money for it but the he will not except anything less than £10,000. Can't blame him! Still Andy was v helpfull and I am looking forward to the AMT conversion coming in January (we hope).
