Hi Allan
Good to see Doune is still open, I heard a few years back it was closing but obviously its not.
Can this be added on to one of the rounds of the 16v sprint championships? Its not too far up the road from me
If Im free I'll pop along and see you.
Good luck

If we're adding this one as a round of the 16vSprint Championship, I'm taking the 'OMP' Bucket seat out & fitting an 'Armitage Shanks' instead.
It only looks about 8 feet wide .............. with armco either side .............. and some trees ................ and a drop off at the side ................
I'm crapping myself just watching the vids.

Those barriers will make it easy they will keep me on track  Just put the foot down all the way and GO bouncing from barrier to barrrier it will be like being on a rail track.

BHP i would eventually like to organise a national 16v championship that all members can compete in, this has been discussed briefly in other posts. For this to happen there will have to be sufficient interest in that general location so if you can raise a few people to regularly attend and compete in it then it may be a possibility.
I'm sure other members would travel, especially myself and andy if a weekend can be made out of it due to the distances to be travelled. Especially if the fun we had at scarborough was anything to go by.
Throw in a rollcage and get an entry in and we may be coming to a town near you.

Ive had a rollcage in my mini for years - even had to use it once
I am going at the build hammer and tongs at the mo so would love to have the car ready for next year. Im sure some of the 16v boys round here could be convinced

i believe evo would also be interested.
To get the championship off the ground it was easier to run it on the back of the auto66 events, i'm not sure how we would get to do other events but will certainly look into it if you can come up with plenty of interested people.

120 cars booked for this one according to the local press. Might take a trip up Allan, depends on kids, babysitter & Mrs Hoose (Out Boozin Sat & Sunday the trollup) so if she's not fit on Sunday, I'll be on parent duty :?
Good Luck and try not to loose too much pace bouncing off the barriers

Here goes an unbiased report
There was only one more mini there at the weekend me and a 1275 cooper s (Graham Cowie a regular) In practice (Saturday)in the dry Graham did 66 sec three times in a row.
I did 66 64 62 and was confident I could do 58 but on Sunday for the timed runs it was wet Graham did 70 69 71 I did 63 62 63
The barriers were even closer than they look on the videos and near all the corners are uphill which caused loads of understeer fixed by lowering the front ride height and raising the rear.
There is a lot to learn about racing cars  but I am learning slowly.

Great times considering the weather. I wouldn't fancy thrashing a car up there in the wet!

He looked half drunk from the Saturday night when I met him, Grace was having to hold him up
I'll tell you something, How none of those big power racers never bounced off the barriers is way beyond me. They were shifting :!:
Never knew Ferraris were so slow or were they just there for the posing :?: One of the drivers was trying to spin/warm his tyres on the line but unfortunately the poor soul hadn't read the owners manual. Should've swicthed the traction control off mate    VROOOOOOOOM.
sounded nice though.
But not as nice as Allans valver mini. Well done auld yin
Allan McD

I dont think I would drive a Ferrari up there fast to much to lose and all the Ferraris had to drive home (part of there rules) most pased us on the motorway going south.

Have to disagree there Allan. If I had taken my Ferrari along (Mrs hoose had it down at Tesco's) I wouldn't have let it anywhere near the track. Those guys must be bricking it more than anybody.
