Has this been done?

Can this be done?

looking around for a MPi engine for my conversion and all i can find at the right money is 220 turbo lumps.

are they much bigger than the standard K?

Advice is welcome fellas........

Think very very very bigger, with lots lots lots more weight.

The T-Series is one of Rover's classic cast iron engine blocks. Last time I looked under the bonnet of a 620, I thought somebody had stuck a lorry engine in by mistake.

Yep there bigger and alot heavier, however iv seen pics of the non-turbo version on a grastracking mini. so it can be done..

according to the haynes for a rover 400, the versions with the 2.0 engines are around 100k heavier than tehre k-series counterparts. i know this could be due to other things, like brakes but its still a heafty difference.

but tbo you would be beter holding out for a k-series. they do come up at a decent price if you keep looking. and there a bit more tried and tested!

The weight difference is probably mostly in the engine. It is a brute of an engine.

The K-series is the far more desirable engine.

It's always the same when you're looking for something. There seems to be hundreds available right up until the moment you actually want one, and then they disappear. I'm currently looking for an old mini, with a rotten body but reasonable mechanicals, to use for a fibreglass body. But can i find any? Not even seen a single mini advertised locally for the past month.

my mum had a rover 800 vitesse not too long ago. i believe it had this engine - and it went like stink! even though it wergher the same as a range rover! i think they have about 180bhp as standard.

Hello Daz :P

Theres a turbo 1.8 k series lump in the rover 75 if you can track one of those down... might be pricey tho. theres a link (think it's www.powertrain-ltd.co.uk ) to the place in Brum that builds these engine in one of the other post in the rover section if that helps for specs and stuff...

Theres always the good old VVC from a MGF? I'm sure somebody has totalled an F or 2 by now?

If you fancy a challenge go for a KV6 engine... i dares ya! Mmm.. imagine the sound.....

Maybe fitting the rear subby would be good first though, eh?! ;)

I think the back wil be the last thing that i do!!!!

I have found a few 1.4mpis so its looking like one of them... when i have sorted the subframe out and tested it, (i wanna fit it without lengthening the front), i will have an engineering company knocking them out for cost, i will also prob knock out some simple instructions on how i did it as well......

Tom wanna borrow a trailer to get your shed to bingley in jan?

How hard can this be?

Oooh, you bitch *flappy camp hand jestures!*

With any luck it will be driven to bingley....

I was gonna sacrifice the Metro in the name of a faster mini but now dad has decided he wants first refusal on it... bugger... nevermind - back to the original plans i think :)

I have a few minis now.... you an borrow the 850 out the van for now if your stuck for power!!!!!!!

Y dont you just make your front ready for the 16v but run round with the original subframe and engine so you have transport... lucky for me a have a 15k TRD Celica as my daily hack so i dont hae to worrie about things like this.....

Brought a running Hreg with Tax and MOT mainly for parts.... oh and Steffys trailer... but for now keeping it in one so i can thrash it about...
