Hi there,
Some help required with respect to VTec engines.

I'm am soon to be starting the build on a 21ft limo project with a clubby front end. To give me enough power to move the considerable weight (of additional metalwork and up to 8 people in the car) I need to consider something better than the A series.

I think I wish to go down the VTec route, but with one difference.... I need to use an auto box to provide a smooth power delivery.

Do the Honda auto boxes mount the same as the manual ones or will I need to make up a different frame ?

All help and advice greatfully received.

Carl.

The shell will definately be strengthend to take the increased loading, but the engine is not there for balls out power.
The shell will have 1inch box section running inside the sills, with 2x2 boxsection running the length of the floor and 2 additional cross members running across. Also the extended sides will have triangulated frames to stop flex.
The thing should be stiffer than a porn star on Viagra !!

not sure , even spoke to andy at AMT and he did not know ,
the big plus point for the vauxuall is its torque , and you will need a bit for a limo , i will try and find out about auto boxes for you.

Thanks for the info Guys.
The comments about torque seem logical enough for me and I did not even consider that fact that the VTec system might not even kick in if cruising with passengers !!

Matt, any info you get on the Vauxhall Auto will be greatfully received.

Regards
Carl.

Careful, I might just hold you to that !!!!

It's going to be in the 2nd Q next year before the engine gets looked at as I've got to get the shell sorted yet !!
