View Full Version : SPi or MPi
I kind of no the difference between the 2 but what are the main differences?? Power etc? if an SPi came up at the right price is it worth getting it as a starting point??

1.4 Spi around 95bhp
1.4 Mpi around 103bhp
Spi would be fine, Mpi would be better, especially if future engine upgrades are planned. The 1.6 & 1.8 are Mpi and so would be much easier (straight swap), if you already have all the Mpi bits.
If the Spi is cheap enough and you dont plan on swapping to a larger engine anytime soon then its a reasonable starting point.
So say i started with a SPi and 6 months laters found a cheap MPi to drop in would it be a big job? Like wiring loom ECU etc? Thanks for your help by the way

As far as I know both the ECU and loom are different

Should be just changing the inlet manifold the ECU and the engine loom. Should'nt be more than a days work at the most, I've got a Spi fitted with a veiw to changing to MPI when one comes along at the right price.

What they said
Plus. You may need a higher pressure pump too, unless you fit a 3 bar + one for the SPi conversion.
