I'm just wondering if the 16v head would fit a 1.1 k series (there the same, but with slightly thicker liners right?) and whether it would be worth the fun of head swapping?

Just an idea cos i have a spare metro 1.1 and my 1.4 has been sat out side for a while... might be in need of attention.

good idea but there is two versions of head, high and low port, also valve clearance might be a problem, if the liners are thicker, also moreover the ecu fuel and ignition map will be out.
rover did make a 1.1 16v metro, you'd be better off spending time finding one, rob the head and ecu plus loom and 5as immobiliser and keyfob, then you know it'll work as it should.

take the 16v head off, check its ok, then go buy a 1.4 8v for £2 (with change) and pop the head on. asuming ofcource theres no difference in pistons between the 8 and 16v!? need to ask on a metro forum for the answer probably....

the pistons are diferent on the k8 and the k16 but maching of the 1.1 piston would let you fit a 16 valve head but this can only be for reasons that you know about :? :?

rover also made the 25 as a 1.1 16v, another possible source. the pistons as the other chap says are different, i've had the 8 and 16v 1.4 engines apart, and the 8v didn't have valve cutouts, the 1.1 is probably the same story.
