has there ever been an example of this being done before?
there are plenty of kits out there for the 1800s, i assume being the same engine these would fit?
Didnt rover origionally produce a turbo`ed metro gti, which was never released?

In theory you can do a turbo'd 1.4, and it has been done I believe. A hillclimbing Elise with a turbo'd 1.4 pushing out well over 200bhp, BUT and its a big one. It will be VERY expensive. Personally I would rather turbo an A series than a K. It would be much cheaper in the long run.

Wouldnt be at all surprised if Rover did a GTI turbo as a project, but if it never made production there is probably a good reason why.

Moto-build did a rough 1400 turbo running on a R5 GT Turbo carb, I think it blew up fairly quickly !!

BBR (Brodie Brittan Racing) do turbo conversions for the K series !!!

well from what iv seen of the k-series durability, id MUCH rather turboa 1.4 than the 1.8... if you lower teh CR or run sensible boost dont se why it wouldnt last.

if they use the MLS head gaskets these can be doubled up with no real isues, going by what iv seen/done/heard with regards to forced induction tuneing on TU-series pug/citroen engines.

Rover do a turbo'd 1800 in the current Rover 75. from memory it's somthing like 150 bhp, with a lot more midrange torque than the VVC.
