HI Tom,
Well as per normal dad did it, but here is a description.
After lots of trial and error with leaking welds we opted to get a thick section of steel and cross drill it internally so that the oil flows inside the block.
The block was put on a lathe to start with to make the flace fully flat to ensure it would seal against the block.
Mounting holes were then drilled.
The next stage was to do the internal cross drilling. This has to be done very accuratly or you might go too far and go out the block. We have a small piller drill which comes in very handy for things like this!
Your best bet is to get 2 small holes drilled first to make sure they meet then enlarge the holes. The oil pressrure pipe and switch mounts were just drilledinto the oil flow area then tapped to allow for mounting.
The exit on the edge of the block was then tapped to except hose adapters.
To make the filter end you need a perfectly flat block of steel again. This time however the holes just need to go straight through it the filter mount. The holes can then be tapped to allow for hose adapters again.
A bracket can just be made from an extention of the flat plate.
Hoep this helps.
Will get dad to top up the info if he thins there is more to add.

There shouldn't be a problem using an aftermarket unit. There are lots around and some specific to Honda. Basically spin on and attache the assorted lines to the relocated filter. I don't believe they are that expensive. If you search the net you should come up with several alternatives. JS

question with regards to this, why is it needed? i asume theres some clerance issue at the front? would this be an issue in a clubby fronted mini?
and also, in your pics there apears to be a little bulkhead modification next to the passenger side suspension tower, why/what is this :)
Cheers :)

We found that with the standard mini subframe the tie bar mount was smack in the way for the oil filter!
The mod was for clearance of the gear linkage.
Hope this helps
