Hi all
Now that the project is safely tucked up in the garage at home it's time to start throwing some money at it.
My question is which exhausts are people running.
I intent to mate it to one of those sexy tubular manifolds from the 214/414.
I seem to rember that the original one was 2"?????
I was thinking of a 2.5" maniflow 2 box (no cat)
Anyone got any ideas on the subject?
Thanks

I'm using a 2" W&P stainless system, about 7 years old now. Its a single box system and is to my mind just a bit loud.
Its certainly louder than when I had my MG engine fitted, and I got stopped by the police once for that, although once he' looked round the car he let me on my way.

|The pick up uses a two box RC40 system matched to the Metro GTI manifold and flexible section, both the same dia, 1.75" I think. Just chopped a little off the front of the RC40 and joined it to the Metro pipe with a double ended sleeve - easy.
Busy rebuilding after the respray but have managed to crack the front screeen - duh!!

Thanks for that.
So a 1.75" should be big enough then but 2" would be better. There's not much in it £ wise.
Of course there's always the maniflow 1.75" with the 3" tail pipe (just for those extra kev points) :p

Dont go too big, 1.75" is fine for up to about 115bhp. Sure the 2" may give a slighly better top end but you'll sacrafice low end torque as the pipe will be too wide to maintain gas speeds at low revs. If my 1400 16v K Metro was anything to go by the low end torque wasn't great to start with !!! :P
My advice, leave the wide pipes to the big BHP brigade (or the Kevs  !!
