OK, - I have done it now. Must be right - cant see another way that it can be done.

hi paul are you using a honda alternator ?it looks like you are ,but did you need to cut the bottom bracket because i can get my alternator to fit
Yeah, thats the right way to fit it..... i recommend using some loc nut glue on those bolts, as they have a tendency to come undone, and they are a strange thread, and difficult to buy.....

Hi Paul - does the alternator still use the standard Honda belt when used with the watsons brackets ?

Yes - I think the Watsons bottom bracket did need to be cut a bit to fit - bit of a pain when you think it should fit but not really a problem.

No, not the standard belt - it is considrably shorter. I took my old belt and cut it down to how long I wanted it and then kept the cut out. My local car spares were able to get me the right length belt when I told them the original belt code and then how much I took out of it.
Also the adjustment on that Watsons bracket is a bit puney - think I will want to enlarge that at some point.
