is there any way to fit a b16a2 engine into a standard roundnose mini, where the steeringwheel is on the left side? anybody who knows? or do I have to find it out the hard way? :)

The gomini kit will not fit in a standard length roundnose, only standard width....

well....I'm going to weld my own subframe....so I was wondering if it is totally impossible to fit a b16a2 in a standard mini.
except that I'm going to use a fipfront.

ilari,

It is posssible to mount a B16A2 in a standard roundnose Mini, or any other B16 series engine for that matter. The A2 is a good choice, since it has an hydraulic clutch transmission. If you insist, as I do, that the external sheetmetal not be modified, you have to be willing to modify the intake manifold and possibly the exhaust manifold to make it all fit. It will not fit with the stock intake manifold unmodified. Too little room between the engine head and the bulkhead and master cylinders in a LHD Mini. An alternative is to relocate the master cylinders and modify the firewall crossmember to allow room for the intake. Both solutions have been done. In making your own, you will need to mount the engine so that the block is pretty much vertical, and try to get the inner CV joints as close to the axle centerlines as you can.
Good luck with your fabrication project.
