Hey guys im pritty new to mini's but have 3 years experiance in a body shop and nvq level1 mechanics so im pritty well experianced.
I bought a 106 foor my first car and modified and sold it for a profit so now i have my £2600 budget that i wanted to spend on a mini. im after something relativly quick (scooby eater would be nice) and have access to a workshop and loads of tools.
any idea's on which conversion would be realistic?
cheers for your help

Hi,
Do you how to pay for a car out of £2600 budget?
I think, you need to buy Gti as a whole to make it easier and parts you don't need, sell it on ebay.
You can also make rear brakes to be disc with mk2 Gti's without too much work.
You should be able to buy Gti for £3-400 and make profit from rest of parts!
All you need is your man hour to do subframe conversion or buy from Matt!
Cheers

yer i was thinking along those lines. how much will the drive shafts and front subframe be to have made roughly?
The other option, as i want a clubby realy, is to buy a 1380cc. what are they like speed wise???

1380cc would be crap compared with a Swift GTI shafts would cost around £150 (I havnt had a bill for mine yet) to have welded subframe is on the 16vminishops web site.

have a look at this, maybe you'll get a better idea on costs, I think you'll be quite lucky to do a conversion with that budget!

i think you wanted the "how much for you're conversion" topic.... not the "how much do you spend on urself at xmas topic"
i could be wrong tho

it is possible to do a 16v for that, but its all down to how much you can do yourself...
my build, which started as a rotten, bare shell has cost me £2600 to get to the stage i am at now. I predict that another £1000 to get it finished and presentable....but we'll have to see!
hope this helps!

well i can get a full body respray for around £100 (cost of paint). the only expensive part would be all the parts i can't make or do myself. i live next door to a scrapy so a donor engine isn't going to be a problem. just the subframes and driveshafts, suspensions parts and brakes that will cost. Oo and the shell.

if you can weld then you could get a rotten shell like i did, it needed £250 worth of panels, but i only paid £40 for it. And i made my own subframe for under £100 (that includes cost of taking it to an engineering company to be 'properly' welded)

hmmmmm. im spoilt for choice on engines. what about a 2.5 duratec out of a focus ST. i know my scrappy has one in at the moment.

We have located the culprit, he will be along later to take his whipping, Hey Mr X
I better apologise, it was deleted by accident by Mr X
Will have to put up another poll later. Sorry chaps if you would vote again on the new cost thread later, that would be great.
Sorry.
