hi everyone i am just prepping my car for my 2.0l 8v cavi engine i have given a deposit to terry g for my subframe and conversion parts
and he will be making a start on that soon i have a complete engine loom and ecu and shafts lined up for the huge price of 50 squid with a low mialage of 75000 recently rebuilt.
i have stripped my subframe out and am starting to prep it for the frame by sorting out the small patches of rust on the front end mostly in the scuttle areas .
i will put some pictures up soon

the alternator is mounts to the rear mount & front of the block. NOT THE FRAME .

thanx mate thought so i got some from work so i can run it front to rear when i have finished all the welding work (or my mate dave)
at the moment it is nearly totally stripped hjust need to get the rear subframe out and it will be totally bare ready for blitzing the welding and other work needed on the body.
this should be done by end of jan all going ok ready for the frame when i can afford to pay for the rest of it

copper slowly disolves in petrol (very slowly) but it is enough to change the spray pattern of injectors...
I know this is correct as I have checked with two Chemists and also think about the number of times you have seen copper lines on a Production car...
Most people don't have problems - then again how many high milage minis/kitcars etc that run EFi on copper pipes? Probably not enough to spot an issue.

If it disolves surely it wont block anything I recon they will last for longer than a mini.

How many times do we see copper brake pipes on a production car ?? never ( until they get replaced) it's all down to cost....but............
I agree, petrol does dissolve copper, very very slowly......
My fuel lines are 8mm copper :D :D

What arches are they ? Miglia ?
How are you going to attach them onto the body ? Your finger wont be there for ever :P
Will you make some brackets up and rivet them on or have you got a fixing kit ?

right last night me and mini boy ian went to look at a cavi sri last night for the whole price of 80quid the only problem is i have no way of getting it back to mine as it has had a rear end smash and has no lights so we went away to try and get hold of a mates tralor to tow it back and then realised that it has a towbar fitted so i could just use a tralor board as my rtear lights and drive the car back to mine
i know its not a red top but i got the car cheep so i might as well use it as far as i know it is a 130hp model so should be good fun.

right update time everyone i bought a cavi sri130 from a friend of a friend that had a nice big smack in the back for the huge sum of 80squid
i set to work on wed nigt on pickin the car up and got it back by 930 then set at strippin it down by 11pm i had the engine out and by midnight thecar was back rolling on thursday i then set at stripping the loom out which was fun as the ecu is hidden in the footwell behind the dash so i got the bfh out and proceded to move the dash gently out of the way
so now i have all the parts i need for the conversion its just a case of gettin the shell finished ready for the engine to be mounted up
me and mini boy ian also painted the inside while we were bored the other night and started to mask the sides up ready for the shultzing of the under neath which i hope to get done next week sometime and then get to work gettin it fully painted
now for the pics

we need to flat back the top part of the grey and mask it up to paint the black but we cant do that until the paint is hard enough so will be leaving that a week or two until we do that.
in the meantime we can prime the doors arches boot bonnet etc and paint my cage and subframes and bolt them up also need to rebuild my engine that is sat in pieces on the workshop floor at the moment

well got the engine in tonight was a little tricky and i might need to change my rubber mounts over as the ones i have make the engine sit a little high :(
anyway here are the pics

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c185/bousfield19/my%20mini/Photo-0034.jpg
and here are the areas of problems
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c185/bousfield19/my%20mini/Photo-0030.jpg
no room for the belt to go on so the engine needs to move over about an inch and a half
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c185/bousfield19/my%20mini/Photo-0028.jpg
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c185/bousfield19/my%20mini/Photo-0029.jpg
and it sits to high here and hits the frame
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c185/bousfield19/my%20mini/Photo-0031.jpg
it also sits a little high over this side too
i will look into this more tomo night or sat if i get chance

well if you've got fuel air and spark in the chambers then your timing is probably out.
Give that a check/shufty and try again.
I hope I'm not insulting your intelligence here, but................have you got the spark leads on in the correct order?
It'll probably be something silly like that, something that you could spend a week knocking your head against the wall trying to find.

just bought these zzr1100 carbs and bike fuel pump for a bargain 35quid on ebay
http://i19.ebayimg.com/04/i/000/e3/b4/95cd_1.JPG
gonna try and use them as throttle bodies by using the standard vauxhall injectors and modifying the t.p.s to fit the spindle and blanking off the original fuel needle.
i will try to make up a basic plenum going to the standard a.f.m and try to run them off the standard ecu(or the chipped ecu in this case)
and if it doesnt work i will just use them as carbs and sell on the standard injection system

Hi Bousfield,
Just looking at the third from last photo (Side view of the sprayed black manifold on the 'workmate' bench)
Has the manifold mounting face warped during welding? I was concerned about this happening with my own similar conversion so I made a welding jig to try and keep it flat whilst welding? It might just be the surface that it is on not being flat - but you have probably already checked it with a straight edge. :D
Just thought I'd mention it
Cheers

It would have warped a bit when you welded it if you have a small press that 8mm plte will bend nicely. looks good though. made it look easy :P

was quoted online to insure it with all mods declaired for 560ish. phoned up to take it out and it went up to 1810 fully comp as they said there online system was playing about and not recognising engine conversions and they wouldnt honour the quite no i had. :( :x so i phoned other companies but none would insure me as i have a roll cage and ones that would were sky high

It was for this very reason that i brazed my runners onto my flange plate when making the manifold for my polo...

didnt have a very good time yesterday at bristol miniday.
turned up nice and early to get on the clubstand and my water hose on the back of the block decided to split just as i pulled up so spent the first hour and a bit trying to sort that out luckily i manged to get a hose from one of the traders.
fitted that just before the rain started.
walked arround being miserable for the rest of the afternoon. came to 5 and decided to leave and on the way home my oil light flashed up ank was flicking on and off.
pulled over to check oil level and look for leaks and all was ok( was only about 5miles from home) so i decided to drive home.
as i pulled off the motorway my engine started knocking really loud so it looks like my oil pump and big ends have now gone.
so it looks like this weeks job is strip it down and see what damage has been done

not as bad as first thought just got the car up on the ramp. looks like its the cv that has gone and is nocking not the big end as thought. it just happens that the oil light keept coming on at the same time as the nocking started. i think the oil switch is at fault as it seems to be running ok appart from the nocking from the cv but i will find out by changing that tomorrow.
On a side note. I've found you a chavvy 1800 dizzy with a vacum advance for the bike carbs!
