I've had the engine sat in the frame for a while now and this weekend i have tried to fit it in with the spacers provided by SAE to get the engine square to the body.
I've done the gearbox mount and i came to do the engine mount and i can't get the engine square to the body by about half an inch. Does this matter?

I'm wondering if there is different types of engine mounts between the B16A2 and the B16A1? or is it that the subframe mount is not made correctly? As this is is what is stopping the engine moving forward that extra half an inch.

Also the engine does not seem level. It is higher on the gearbox end than on the engine side. Should the engine be as level as possible.

Sorry for all the questions but i've had a bad weekend!! nothing is going right

Thanks Paul

I have not seen any of the UK frames first hand but an engine should sit level. I have just got mine sitting on a wooden dolly but the engine is propped up by pseudo axles and they are equidistant in height. The front of the engine is also just propped up with shims but it sits straight and level Just have to weld the side rails and adjust the motor mounts on them to fit to their proper location.

If it is out of level just a bit it won't be critical as the u-joints in the axles wilkl take up any of the difference. But it would be better if square and aligned properly. JS

For whats it's worth I have seen comments made before about the SAE kit and the engine not looking straight in the engine bay.

Think I mentioned it B4.

Saw their demo car at Combe and the engine, although it looked level, did not look like it was parallel to the bulkhead or brace bar thing.

I've made a few modifications and it now sits alot better.
